Its Jaws or the Dark Canuck...
Should we stay for the Dark Canuck?
Everyone Hands Up
Who's for the Dark Canuck...
My Favorite Hip song...i love these lines...I always feel like they embody a canadian sense of self deprecation....
I also love the line
War isn't for children
War is nothing's enough.
True.

Practically all of 'Scared,' Gord's finest hour IMHO...'There's a precious few that can prove, at the root, this is all nothing but cold calculation...'
Also:
I'm discovering uses for you I thought I'd never find
I could been Chancellor without you on my mind
The strange mix of neediness and reproach captures so well, I think, the price we pay for love.
And:
Those left in the water got kicked off our pantleg
And we headed for home
Reminds me of my time in Grad School, somehow.
Finally, the chorus of 'You're Everywhere' haunts my sleep.

Im not sure if I connect with a specific lyric, but I do with some of the songs for various reasons. My favorite lyric would have to be the opening from Throwing Off Glass..
"Why is the world so creepy she asked?"
great tune, Gord is a genius.
Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

"I got a job, I explore. I follow every little whiff. I don't want my life to smell like this,, Looking for a place to happen...."

Hard to choose from so many brilliant lines but how about
"The human tragedy consists in the necessity of living with the consequences"
"You teach your children some fashion sense and they fashion some of their own"
and a word of prophecy for today's youth: "a generation so much dumber than its parents came crashing in through the window"

As many people have said The Hip have some beautiful lyrics and as a newbie, I don't really know the songs well enough yet to have a favourite... but the first of their lines to really reach out and grab me was a simple one:
Coulda been the Willie Nelson, coulda been the wine...
Bobcaygeon is easily my favourite Hip track so far!
Come say hi on twitter

"I think it was Algonquin Park. It was so cold and winter dark"
"I want to be your stars Algonquin"
My wife and I are both Hip fans and we love it up at Algonquin. Very romantic.
