What does that mean? I'm a westerner and I don't share his attitudes, so where do you come off?

No i am just kidding about that, it goes back to another dissagreement that Opiated and I had. Just trying to get a laugh from him. No offence to westerners was intended.

I think aaronck makes a good point, I think every one forgets that Moore's hit on Naslund wasn't penalized, I thought it was a clean hit. Meatheaduzzi just took it too far. It should have ended with the fight. That is the way it used to be in the NHL

I think it has to be pointed out that Bertuzzi was banned from playing in Europe during the lockout by the European hockey authorities. The guy wasn't able to make a living playing hockey for a whole year while others were. He's served his time and he's profusely apologized over and over again. What more do you want?

I agree that Bertuzzi is a meathead. Also, I don't think he is tough. Matter of fact, I think he's a big pussy. He's a terrible fighter for his size and the last year he played he played all year like a pussy and never went to the front of the net. Having said that, I think he's served his time. Has he learned his lesson? Probably not because he seems like a slow learner.

there's a lot more that he brings then just points..granted his playoff production wasn't great, but he puts his heart on the ice every night...he never takes a night off...

That could be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Typical western attitude...

And not McSorley's incident was not way worse than this, you are just saying that because it happened to a canuck

Opiated, I agree with everything you've said. This is just typical over-reaction to an ugly incident. How many times in the NHL have guys punched each other WITH GLOVES ON from behind? It happens DAMN NEAR EVERY FEW GAMES!!!! It was just unfortunate for Moore that he got injured the way he did but that's hockey. What about Domi hitting Niedermeyer in the playoffs? Wasn't that just as bad? What about Suter on Karyia? Domi on Ulf Samuelson? Claude Lemieux on Neely? Marchment on Modano and countless others? What about Mark Messier spearing a guy as hard as he could? He got 3 freaking games!!!!! What about Bobby Clarke breaking Kharlamov's ankle in the summit series? Wasn't that worse?

Steve Moore is probably able to play. He's a scrub who nobody wants anyway. He went out of his way to hit Naslund and had to expect some kind of response. I agree that Bertuzzi is a moron and idiot. Brookbank should have just went on the ice, grabbed Moore and punched him in the face whether he wanted to fight or not. Bertuzzi could have suckered Moore face to face. Why wasn't Worell on the ice with Moore? When did Moore break his neck? You can't prove that Bertuzzi broke his neck? What if it was caused by the Avs player who jumped on Bertuzzi's back?

I'll tell you all you need to know about Moore and his support from the players. The Avalance signed Brad May. That shows how much the Avs think of Moore and support him.

Injuries happen in hockey. People should lighten up. If this same thing was done by other players, fans would be saying the same thing. If Iggy or Pronger or Hossa or Sundin did the same thing, fans of those teams would think the penalty was enough.

i agree 100 per cent with everything said...all those incidents were worse in action, just not as bad in injury...and yes...the avs signed may which could show what they think of moore..great point

Make a living? That's HILARIOUS. Yeah, the $200K that he would have made in Europe - if he went - sure would have put the food in his family's mouths that the millions in the bank couldn't have.

Good ole Bert was playing golf with his cell phone off when his agent tried to get a hold of him to tell him the good news, wonder if Moore can even golf yet?

Does that put into perspective how tough Bert's life is that he had to sit out all that time?

^ how does the Avalanche signing May have anything to do with whether Bertuzzi deserves to come back yet? Who cares what the Avalanche think of Steve Moore. Who cares what anyone thinks of Steve Moore. Bertuzzi could have suckerpunched Mother Teresa or Caligula and it wouldn't make a difference to the analysis.

"Steve Moore is probably able to play. He's a scrub that nobody wants anyway." Geez. Talk about blaming the victim. Are you guys for real? Open season on scrubs.

And the fact that he couldn't play in Europe; what does that have to do with anything? Why should anything the European leagues do be taken as a credit against NHL action? Will the NHL also be counting European goal scorers in the Art Ross race this year? If the European leagues decided they didn't want a goon in their ranks taking advantage of the fact that the NHL was locked out, then more power to the European leagues for being enlightened, instead of seeking to pounce on his "star power". Was there ever a chance the Canucks were gonna let him play in Europe while he was suspended if the NHL hadn't been locked out? No. So he was never going to play in Europe regardless. He was suspended by the NHL and it's the NHL that's now wimping out on following through with that suspension ...

And a question: why the hell is Bobby Clarke breaking Kharlamov's ankle "worse" than Todd Bertuzzi punching Steve Moore in the back of the head and breaking his vertebrae? Why is Tie Domi elbowing Niedermayer in the head and giving him a concussion "worse" than Bertuzzi suckerpunching Moore from behind and putting him out of commission.

"If Iggy or Pronger or Hossa or Sundin did the same thing, fans of those teams would think the penalty was enough."

That's kinda the point, isn't it. And they'd be wrong if they thought it. Just like Canuck fans laying out the red carpet for "Bert" are wrong on this one.

[I like arguing. There's not enough arguing in the Hip threads. It's all like "Who rocks more, Johnny or Gord S?" "Gord S rocks, but Johnny rocks equally" "I agree; what's your favourite song on which Gord S and Johnny rock equally?" "Poets, ABAC, Meridian" "I like Gus, NOIS, and 50MC" "Me too." The only time you get an argument is when someone says Nautical Disaster is about the Lusitania, or if someone prattles on about Six Flags Darien Lake, or whatever.]

Confusedcratch:

Dude, I went to dozens of Canuck games when I lived in Vcr and there were plenty of games where he was completely invisible. He takes a night off now and again like most NHLers do.

He's a washed up bum and has been for about a decade now.

But I do love when someone doesn't have any numbers to back up their position so they use the ever mysterious "intangibles" and statements like "he puts his heart on the ice every night". I'm gonna use one of those lines the next time the wife is pissed with me.

Wife: You forgot to take out the garbage last night and now the kitchen stinks.

Me: Maybe, but dammit, when I do take out the garbage, I put my heart into it. When I'm taking out the garbage, I do the little things that a lot of people don't notice. Oh sure, you could have married someone who takes out the garbage all the time and never forgets, but would he have done it with heart? Would he have done it with grit? I don't think so. Those pretty boys don't know the first thing about heart because remembering to take out the garbage comes too easy for them. I have to work at it, which makes me appreciate it more when I do remember.

May signing with Colorado has nothing to do with whether Bertuzzi should be back. IT HAS EVERYTHING to do with what Moore's peers and OWN TEAMMATES THINK OF HIM DRAWING THIS OUT AND SUING EVERYONE UNDER THE SUN. It shows that Moore doesn't have the respect of the players that he thought he did. In essence, his own teammates don't "have his back" for lack of a better thing to say.

I am blaming the victim (MOORE) because I think he is milking this injury. Geez, hearing his lawyer talk,. you'd think Moore is missing out on billions of dollars he could be making. The reality is that if Moore was healthy he probably wouldn't be playing in the NHL so he's not missing that much money. He's asking for the world to bow down to him. He's already gotten his sympathy. What more does he want? Bertuzzi should just give him a million dollars and that should be enough for him. You guys are acting like he is paralyzed or something. Didn't Gary Roberts come back from a neck injury? IMO Moore is milking his 15 minutes in the spotlight.

THe other incidences are just as bad BECAUSE THE INTENT WAS THE SAME!!! What if Niedermeyer hit his head on the ice and his career ended? It could have happened. Domi got lucky that Scotty wasn't hurt worse. Bobby Clarke used his stick like an axe in injuring the other team's BEST FORWARD. His intent was to break his ankle and he did, and he took away the player's ability to play. Bertuzzi punched a guy from behind. IT wasn't that horrific an act. Bertuzzi didn't INTENTIONALLY DRIVE Moore's head into the ice as you seem to believe. Bertuzzi wanted to hit the guy hard. He didn't try to break his neck. You can thank Nikolishin or whoever the Avs player was that jumped on top of Bertuzzi for that. Bert shouldn't have done it and the result has to have a little effect on the suspension but it's on the ice. It happened during a game. It didn't happen outside a nightclub or in the parking lot. Moore was unlucky. Bert was unlucky that Moore fell and ten people jumped on top.

Nobody is laying out the red carpet for Bert. I would have liked him to be traded to be honest. I still think he's served enough time. C'mon man. Moore is milking it. I'm almost willing to bet he's healthy enough to play hockey now.
