Uh, Dumbest Canuck, did you not get the point that I'm not interested in rehash? Or do you have some inside information about the new material that they're going to perform?

Mind you, I just have to remember that you think latter-day greatest hits albums are essential Floyd listening ... whatever.

What gives? Are they supposed to come out with new material?

Syd Barret too?

Like our Mr. Downie, whose mix CD done for Maxim had a Dylan tune from 2001's "Love and Theft" (High Water for Charley Patton).

People actually go to see Dylan to hear stuff he's done in the past decade, not what he did in '65. And when you do hear him do a tune from '65, chances are you won't recognize it, because he's come up with a new arrangement, with a modified melody.

Quick, name a Stones tune from the past decade ... and now tell me people buy Stones tickets hoping to hear that tune live. Oh, and I can't wait to hear their fresh, new arrangement of "Satisfaction."

The Stones are running on empty, and they have been for a long time. Being a dinosaur isn't about your age, it's about coasting along on the basis of what you did thirty years ago.

Well put. Anyone comparing the modern day Dylan to the modern day Stones is a clown who has no idea what he's talking about. Love and Theft is a brilliant album. Bob rules. Case closed.

This coming from someone with a Dylan avatar!

Dylan has acted 60 his entire life, even when he was in his 20's.
Jagger has acted 20 his entire life, even when he's now in his 60's...

A new Stones album is due out in the next couple months. The new song they played at the recent press conference was pretty good.

Hey, some people like rehash. I don't.

Especially in the case of Pink Floyd, where the albums have a narrative. You can either perform the entire piece of music, i.e., the album, or you can crank out crowd-pleasing greatest hits.

If you like rehash, the more power to you. Go enjoy it. But at the cost of tickets to an act like the Stones, I'm sorry, but I expect more.

Based on past performance, I'm not holding my breath.

But if they did actually manage to put out a great new album, one that wasn't coasting along on the Stones name, I might change my mind and say they're worth seeing for now.

Rehash!????!!! That's what concerts are, the Hip rehash everytime they play, all bands do, that is the whole point of having a concert, to do a career retrospective in one night really. That is why the hip play NOIS every freakin night.

Saint of Me is a Stones song from the past ten years and it kicks ass.

"do damned"? is that like "zippity do damned"

[we're not so nice we don't leap all over typos like a hyena on a hamburger.]

re Rehashing the Stones. If when the Hip are all 65 years old and Gord's still tap dancing in the middle of Little Bones, and ranting like a guy who smelled too much paint, and Bobby's still delivering crazy frying pan to the face solos, and Gord S is still bopping and weaving in his muscle shirts, and Johnny Fay's still banging the life out of his drum kit, and Paul Langlois is still scissor-kicking and doing backflips off the amps, then hey, who the hell cares if some people think it's a rehash, I'm still gonna be there.

And that's the way people who are willing to shell out $75 to see the Stones feel about the Stones (unless they really like the new stuff, and if they do, well god bless 'em). And if you don't wanna pay that much to see Mick being Mick and Keith being decrepit, then -- guess what -- don't go.

anyway, there's not much more of a point to this post, I just wanted to get that image of Paul Langlois writhing across the stage on his back like Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future out there for public consumption.
