Along with Josephine, Heart of the Melt is definitely one of my favorite IBE songs.
The guitar gives me a "Rockin in the Free World" vibe, and everytime it comes on in my car I look down and notice that I'm driving 15 mph faster than I was...
I love it.

I was just listening to Lake Fever from the London show, WOW what a great song. I couldn't believe it when they kicked into that song, it has to be one of my best hip moments ever and then after that they played twist my arm, I thought I was in heaven.

Escape is about a chicago band. Their lead singer committed suicide. Material Issue. Great band. Valerie Loves me is a great song. I dated the drummer's sister.

Totally random thing that I've wondered about since I first saw Heksenketel: where did the lovebird come from, and what happened to it? In its way, it's a great little visual non sequitur, the bird in its duct-tape-and-laundry-baskets cage on the bus, with the befuddled/hungover/high/recently-awakened (pick one) Robby watching it as though it's his job... Weirder yet is when I noticed the cage in their dressing room just before they went out onstage, early in the video. I have this persistent mental image of some weirdo trying to smuggle the bird onto the grounds in the hopes of throwing it at Gord (like the Alice Cooper chicken incident).
Yeah, I know, this is all pretty darned random. But it's puzzling.

I have a friend working the up-and-coming Virgin Festival in Halifax, and her job for the concert through the Delta is to bring the bands the food and drink they want. Here is the Hip's list of nourishment they want to have in their dressing room:
- Lots Red Bull and orange pop
- Dentyne mint and Fire gum
- Lots of cookies
- Earl Grey tea
This is pretty pointless, but I was thinking, "Eh, what the hell. It is a Hip fact, and this is the Hipbase...".

does anyone have a pic or still of the leather jacket in the bathouse movie? I think they showed it when they were talking with Billyray before they went upstairs to the jam space. The jacket looks like it is hanging on a wire hanger and we only get a quick shot of it. I think that it is the coolest leather jacket I have ever seen. I think it has The Tragically Hip across the top on the back with the gargoyle underneath it. I would love to see this again. Any idea of whos this is? I would assume someone in the band but who knows.
