Two points, if I may...
1. The national anthems of any country, whatever they are, are fine as they are... whoever sings them should just sing them as is and not add their interpretation to it, PERIOD!
2. The point about not playing Canadian music... the whole fact is that the Grey Cup is an all-Canadian event, one of the few major events we can call our own, so to ask to have Canadian music played is not out of line. Would Americans appreciate having Canadian acts play during an Independence Day rally?
