Oh nononono, I think people are entitled to say or ask things around here that they are wondering about or are curious about. Some people may just take it in the wrong light. It's hard to write in a newsgroup or forum and mean to say something one way, but other people may interpret it entirely different.

I just agree with what a couple people said above...these kinds of subjects can be talked about behind closed doors perhaps...but perhaps airing dirty laundry like sharing cocaine in a hotel room, etc...that crosses the line. It's all hypothetical unless you have actual proof that things were done...like if you had that particular act caught in picture or on tape, etc. Saying that a friend of a friend of a friend's band...or whatever the case may be...we have to wonder sometimes if it's all true or just heresay, or something that got misconstrued along the way??

Whatever the case may be with The Hip and drugs...what they've done in the past and what they do now...really, I suppose it's not even our business. But hey, bands and musicians and athletes...they're all exposed to all sorts of things. I think the two go hand in hand.

As fans, we need to know a certain amount of info involving the band and potential crimes and/or illegal affairs they may be involved in.

You'll talk about every other aspect of the band from their homes, intentions, schools they attended, favorite foods and pet peeves, but when it comes to drugs, you guys shy away from the topic?

Come on, think about it for one second... Of course, some people who don't agree with drugs might find the bullet hard to chew when they find out their favorite band members are junkies (not making any accusations here) but it's just as it is.

Nobody can claim the Hip are into drugs without actual seeing it for themselves and still, not everyone will believe them. This is an important topic. And don't try to give me that crap about "prying into their private lives" or anything. Not when people can quip mundane $h!t like where they live...

Tell me, why is important to know where the Hip live or which kind of car they buy? Because we get to know them better. If they had drug problems (IF!) then this knowledge would bring them down closer to us common folks. We have a right to know if our favorite bands do drugs. It's as simple as that....

I wouldn't go so far to say we have a right to know; how is that important to our love and respect for the band?? Even if Gordie or any member of the band has a drug problem, the only reason they would lose my respect is if they start acting like an out of control rock star aka Courtney Love. The kind of naval gazing while a musician or celebrity is having a problem with drugs and inappropriate behavior is sad and only reinforces the expectation that they must(or have a right) to go crazy and do stupid things.

Fame and success does not dictate the level of privacy in your life. We are all entitled to our own privacy, no-one has a right to know anything. Unless that person is somehow responsible for your life, or their job/position dictates it. Curiosity is one thing, but the Hip owe us nothing. I've smoked "Chronic" , as i'm sure 90% of the people on this site have or do...It does nothing for me, i'd rather have a clear mind that sit around giggling, eating chips and and coming up with profound statements. But that's me, some people like it and that's great, but some of us don't.

This is an interestingly weird thread. I was at a bar in Syracuse and met a couple before the show on the PP Tour and they had already seen the hip the night before and the dude gave Gord S. a small bag as a gift. Gord S hesitated but accepted according to this guy....and they party'd with them at the after-show (gord s gave them passes)

My wife enjoys wine and I enjoy a some bud from time to time.... I've seen the pot in the Heks-video and my friend was in the Hip's trailer after the last Molson Park show in 2003 and she said Gord D & Bobby were enjoying some herb at one point....post show

I've heard the Herion Story also about Gord way back on the first record or 2 but nothing firm.... so who knows. Seeing the Hip as much as I have I know they enjoy their weed.... but I've never thought it interfered with the music...nor was it too big of a deal....

It's a simple question... And I encourage anybody else who reads this to respond to it. I know FOR A FACT if one of them were, I would stop listening to them... simple as that. I wouldn't buy the albums created by somebody who did or believed in $hit like that. I wouldn't want to be associated with them or support them by buying the CD...

And it has bearing on the subject of drugs because there could be those who don't agree with drugs and if they heard The Hip did drugs, they would no longer be fans.... sad but completely possible....
