It's gunna be a close one folks... get out there and be heard on the 28th. Hey, It'll give ya something to do in those last LONG hours before the release of IBE.

Nah, I think I'm gonna get out there on the 18th or the 21st. 28th I'm sitting on a beach in Mexico. :mrgreen:

Hey cool. Seriously, when you registered to vote in advance did they give you a location or a website? I've heard some ridings are experimenting with e-voting for you lucky bastards who'll be on vacation on the 28th!

No electronic balloting in my riding. They mailed my special ballot to me.

Not sure what planet you are on. There is no way that Jack won. The poor guy is lost on his views and looked pretty dumb founded when he said he was against the GST but then had to admit that the NDP would not completely eliminate it.

Plus, his on going crying about National Missile Defence, needs to end. Canada is on board with with US (like it or not). They have been for years, its just not openly discussed or covered.

Found this on Canada.com

If you had to cast a ballot based upon the leaders debate, for whom would you vote?

9.3%
Duceppe
36.8%
Harper
27.8%
Layton
26.0%
Martin

[Stephen Dame]

Good answer. Perhaps Paul should've had you at his rehearsals last weekend.

You can't compare the extremists that you saw at parliament hill to anyone. I can't think of one of my friends, customers, relatives, neighbours, that walk around in a KKK uniform just because they want different leadership. That's an extremist view that they have.

Glad to hear it. I just wish the leader and moderate members of the party would condemn those extremists in public, yet I've heard nothing.

Gallant, Strahl and Reid have all made some intolerant coments recently, and if Harper had come down hard on them as he did good 'ol "Homosexuality should be illegal" Larry, I'd feel a lot better about him.

And I'll let you in on a little sceret: I'm a Peter McKay supporter. I disagree with Peter on a lot of issues, but I think he'd be an excellent leader and even PM. But it's not he and his supporters that have made me antsy towards the Conservatives.

Thanks for the ballot info. My planet seemed to agree with me. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the debate.

Did anybody else think Paul Martin looked terrible putting his hands up to stop other speakers and continuosly ignoring people as he answered their questions? The guy wouldn't even look at them!

He came off like a spoiled teenager... David Herle needs to be fired Yesterday. And whoever else is helping "Team Martin" with strategy should be hired by Harper the minute he becomes PM, they're all a God send for the C's. This will become the best example of "how not to run a campaign" when it's over.

No kidding...from this:

Liberals Move Into Solid Majority Territory But Voters Still Volatile
Liberals (40%), Conservatives (24%), NDP (15%), Bloc (46% In Quebec), Green (5%)
Seat Model Projects Liberals With 171-175 Seats, Conservatives 56-60 Seats, Bloc 54-58 Seats, NDP 17-21 Seats If Vote Held Today 155 Seats Needed For Majority
(May 14th, 2004 Ipsos-Reid; <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=2277">http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=2277</a><!-- m --> )

to this:

Harper Poised To Be P.M. With Strong Minority
Seat Projection Model Suggests Conservatives Take 123-127 Seats, Liberals 95-99, NDP 22-26, Bloc Quebecois 60-64 -- If Vote Held Tomorrow
But, Almost A Third Of Potential Votes Could Change With Outcome Of Debates
Conservatives (32%, Up 1 Point) And Liberals (31%, Down 1 Point) Continue To Be Deadlocked… NDP (17%, Up 1 Point), Bloc Quebecois (48% In Quebec Vs. 28% Liberal)
(June 15, 2004 Ipsos-Reid; <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=2234">http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=2234</a><!-- m --> )

in a mere 30 days...talk about a slippery slope...

There's still another 10 to go...and notice this was pre-debates...ouch.

It's already been answered here, but I think all registered voters should have recieved a card stating the ways you could vote if you're going to be out of the country on June 28th. I just have to go to the voting station on the card on certain days between certain times and bob's yer uncle.

I believe I'm voting tomorrow. Depends on how busy I am preparing for the wedding on Saturday. Might have to hold off till Monday morning before I leave. Either way, I'll be heard dammit!

[MikeS]

Actually, you don't even need your card...all you need is a piece of government ID with your name, address and signature on it (eg. provincial driver's licence) and you can go into your local returning office ANYTIME before June 22nd and vote...

This is completely separate from the advance polls...

To find your local returning office address, go here:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.elections.ca/scripts/Pss/finded.aspx?L=e&page=newsearch">http://www.elections.ca/scripts/Pss/fin ... =newsearch</a><!-- m -->

and enter you postal code...then, look on the righthand side of the screen and click the "Where is my local returning office?" link for the address and hours of the office in your riding (which are pretty extensive!)...

Vote Selector Quiz.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://politicswatch.com/VoteSelectorQuiz2004.html">http://politicswatch.com/VoteSelectorQuiz2004.html</a><!-- m -->
Here's what I got...

Jack Layton Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada (score = 100)

Gilles Duceppe Leader of the Bloc Quebecois (score = 62)

Paul Martin Leader of Liberal Party of Canada, Prime Minister of Canada (score = 38

Stephen Harper Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (score = 24)

Kindof sucks that the green party is not an option.

[sherpahigh]

Ya.. I've seen that quiz before. I wouldn't advise anyone to use a quiz like that alone to determin their vote. That being said it's interesting to see what results come up. Not sure how they weight these questions but I've got some rather interesting results from it.

Stephen Harper Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (score = 100)

Jack Layton Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada (score = 72)

Paul Martin Leader of Liberal Party of Canada, Prime Minister of Canada (score = 61)

Gilles Duceppe Leader of the Bloc Quebecois (score = 56)

I mean come on, more money on military? no gay rights? we are supposed to be moving forward as a nation not backwards. I'm not a huge fan of the liberal but harper?? mon deux! the crazy alliance people are masquerading as p. c.ers and you are falling for it.

I can't wait for the election when our GREAT country falls apart.

No kidding I am looking forward to being the US's 51st state. You can bet that this is where Harper will take us. Geez it's not all about tax cuts.

well falling apart is how you look at it. The sponsorship scandal? the gun registry disaster (dont get me wrong I am not saying to have gun freely floating around, but if you say its going to cost 2 million, dont lie about it and then spend over a billion dollars implementing it). It just seems arrogance has gotten the best of the Liberals.
