It’s the end of rent-a-movie weather.

Not one that I get to use too often but it sure is satisfying when I do Smile

Here in Michigan we have The Container Store. Each time my wife mentions it I always turn it into The "World" Container Store....

I visited a buddy yesterday who has a chicken coup. He said he has to make sure he shuts them in before dark or the coyotes will get them.

Who can guess what I said to him.

My job requires frequent taxi trips to and from Pearson airport. I will occasionally ask the driver to take the 407 toll road "so we don't f u c k with the 401". Pretty sure this one hasn't landed on any of the drivers yet but I get a muse out of it.

"we've only got three hundred feet to go ..."

Trouble at the Henhouse is correct!

Queen of the Furrows line was a good guess, I thought about that, or something 'Dire Wolf'.

For some inexcusable reason I had never given The Grand Bounce much of a listen until this past week. Turns out it's been a wonderful giftshop that was just waiting for me to notice and explore. Now that I've discovered how grand the bounce of this record really is, I'm trying to savor it slowly and stretch that thing. Make it last, make it last, at least til the supper bell rings. Because the reality is, even with the latest gifts he left us there's a finite supply of "new" GD brilliance to unwrap and explore and I'm not prepared to get to the end of everything.

Anyway, I found a little clever nugget that I will be looking to drop, from Retrace: "High as an elephant's eye." I don't think I've heard that one before. Anyone know if this is this a GD original or something he borrowed? So maybe my story will be something like "we were high, we were Sherpa high, high as an elephant's eye." Or we can debate, which is higher? Sherpa or elephant's eye? Either way, I'm in.

p.s. did he invent the notion of "Sherpa high" or just use it?

Glad you re-discovered The Grand Bounce. It's my favourite GD record and, IMO, one that could arguably be ranked higher than a couple of Hip albums. There is some beautiful imagery in the lyrics on that one.

"High as an elephant's eye" is from the musical Oklahoma (song "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning", line "The corn is as high as an elephant's eye"). As for "Sherpa High", I don't know if he borrowed that from somewhere, but it sounds like a GD original.

He hasn't truly won until his child gets a Hipbase account and votes Lionized as the Weakest Link on Fully Completely IMO.
