Although Gord sang often of my hometown, the folks in that town that I knew that knew of his band knew of his band because of me. So I got alot of sad texts this week (and yes, I'm doing a bit of inevitability there)
Solitary moment on the banks of the Long Island Sound yesterday, looking at the beautiful blue, water and sky, listening to the hip, recalling all the great times I was fortunate to see them.
Then I turned the page in the local paper, and see Gord's obit, and had a very sad long and solitary moment. Lots of wonderful words recalling a terrific career.
After a while, I realize, Really, American media, you couldn't recognize this man's talent while he was with us?

We're a pretty self-absorbed country. The kids didn't get it. I grew up near the border and I got it, every single word and note. Too bad for everyone else.
