kinda feels like we're leaning toward a combo of 'remastered album release' and some shows to promote it, it's 25 years after the release of the first full-length album afterall ... perhaps a 'play the album front to back' show that bands are known to do. With Bob's production company somehow tied in to the whole thing.

Lots of local chatter that das hips are indeed going to play here for mem cup....interesting if true, and would align with McCown's thing, with his company producing the " road to the cup" show...

Ian Blurton is known for his raw, edgy production. So if this rumor is true, then this is excellent news. If anybody can bring out the rawness of the original FC tracks, he's definitely the guy to do it. Could this potentially be the start of a full scale reissue of the Hip's classic albums? I'll believe it when I see it. The reissue thing is fine, but personally I'd rather see the release of a b-sides album and some more live material from the archives. These guys are sitting on a gold mine of unreleased music. Why they continue to let it sit in some damn vault collecting dust is absolutely baffling to me. If it's production costs they're worried about, they wouldn't even have to release them on CDs. They could simply post the stuff on their website as digital downloads, and then sit back and watch the money roll in. It's idiotic to me that their management hasn't taken advantage of the Internet the way other bands have. Bunch o' dumbasses.
Agree with the entire post. Hilarious if this 'news' is another half assed re-issue of one of the easier hip albums to obtain. Give us Phantom Power on vinyl!
canuckeh Wrote:Third, and very unlikely, Bob occasionally mentions his own business ventures, but the only one of note lately is he recently bought a wineary in the niagara region, so there is a very outside chance it would be some sort of acoustic show there to help promote it, but I'd put that at slim-to-none.
Rule out concert tour or album news, I'll eat my hat if that sort of thing gets announced on a sports show
Bought a vinyard in Niagara? How much are they paying him???!!
McCowan is big time connected and has a ton of cash there are going to be these VIP concerts that are going to be way out of our league to pay for and the Hip as well as others will be playing at his winery...stay tuned is what I was told.

Hey all,
I was listening to Prime Time last week and Bob mentioned he has done a collaboration wine with the Hip to celebrate the anniversary of one of their albums. I think he said it would be out this fall. I believe his winery is called Stoney Ridge.
So, I think that solves the mystery!

Sounds interesting...wine + reissue vinyl + live show/DVD from that tour...make it so!
