What's your number?
#31

Hip: 60+... It's probably over 60 but under 65. And only one was north of the border....not bad for a guy who has lived in Cincinnati for as long as I've known TTH, right?

Widespread Panic: 17

Many many others near double-digits - too many to mention, but....

...I just saw Kathleen Edwards in Louisville AGAIN, which strangely makes 7 times (she admits a strong affinity for that town). This show was in a TINY bar, which could not have held more than 150 people. I was able to talk to her afterward for awhile, which makes three separate occasions for that. I really do love her music, but I must admit I'm infatuated with her, the person. She's just so damn personable, cool, down-to-earth, unassuming, etc., etc. And lovely, too.

Tragically Hip 19
The Church 11
Cowboy Mouth 12
The Smithereens/Pat DiNizio 10
Cheap Trick 10
Replacements/Paul Westerberg 8
Romantics 8
REM 7
U2 6
Pretenders 5
Sam Roberts Band 4
Springsteen 3
Barenaked Ladies 3

Strangely enough, some of my favorite bands I've only been able to see once or twice....Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Rush, Death Cab For Cutie, The Who, Stones, MaCartney,

However, bands like The Romantics (from Detroit where I live) used to frequently play here. Somehow, I'd end up going. Cowboy Mouth, is a band where I have a couple buddies who just love them....somehow I've seen that band in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and Orlando...

I'm sure there are many more mutliples...just can't think right now Smile

Indeed she is. I got to interview her once way back when I was writing for a local arts & entertainment rag in Ottawa. This was around the release of her first full-length album. She was nothing but kind, gracious, and humble. I've had a crush on her ever since.

For me, it's Pearl Jam. 51 times (soon to be 52).

Nothing else even hits double digits for me.

Looks like Thursday will be Hip Show #32 (first was Jan 1. 2000 at the ACC)

Second most is likely Sam Roberts, which is at least 20.

Getting up there would be Elliott Brood, The Weakerthans, Sloan, Holy Fuck, Dave Matthews Band, Danny Michel, Kathleen Edwards, Blue Rodeo, Downie solo.

From late 2000 until around 2006 my friends and I had a contact at HOB. Meant little, except that most GA shows in Toronto with a guest list would have our names on it. Combine that with a couple of years of college music journalism, several trips to NXNE and CMW and I'm probably somewhere between 500-700 shows over the last 13 years. Quite frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll be at 19 after tomorrow's ACC show in Toronto.

First show December 30, 2002 at Copps Coliseum. I'm counting the 3 days I went to Kensington Market in Toronto as one show.

2nd most would probably be Sam Roberts, Weakerthans or the Hold Steady, each 4 or 5 each. Interesting alot of posters here have SRB as runner up or close to it.
