In recent posts, fans have been indicating the number of times they have seen The Hip live. It got me curious.

How many times have you seen The Tragically Hip live?

As a follow up:
If The Hip is the band you've seen the most times in concert, what band would be second and how many shows?
If The Hip is not the band you've seen the most times in concert, what band would be first and how many shows?

My answer goes like this:

Hip - 23 ( First show ACC Dec.23,2000)
Sam Roberts - 12

Re: What's your number? - Rye - 01-25-2013

The Hip - 15 after Monday night (first show 1996)
Pearl Jam - 36 (hopefully doing London, ON and Wrigley which would be 38 and then a few this fall).

I've also seen The Weakerthans 10-12 times.

Re: What's your number? - downie_24 - 01-25-2013

Hip - 20
Blue Rodeo - 7

Re: What's your number? - thebends - 01-25-2013

We have ticket stubs or ticket-fast copies for 173 Hip shows and I think there is probably another 10-15 shows that are unaccounted for. First time was Tucson in 95 and last was Vegas in 2012. Its kinda weird but I think the second band would be Max Webster probably around 35-40. We started following Kim Mitchell and the boys after seeing them open for RUSH a few times. My high school band covered a bunch of their songs and we got to know them fairly well over the subsequent years. Man that makes me feel old, but lucky.

Re: What's your number? - Ry222 - 01-25-2013

Hip - 19

Re: What's your number? - BIGVDOGG - 01-25-2013

173. That's awesome! Now I know why you're chasing such rare songs. You've probably heard most of their catalogue.

Re: What's your number? - thompson girl - 01-25-2013

The Hip - 51
Gord Downie solo - 12

Then it's pretty much a tie between Sam Roberts and Matthew Good at about 5 apiece.

Very Nice. 50+ is very impressive but I love that you've seen GD 12 times. I've seen his solo act 3 times and they were all amazing.

Re: What's your number? - direwolf74 - 01-25-2013

Hip- 30+ (stopped counting after 30. It's probably closer to 35 or 36 by now. I honestly don't remember. First show was '92 at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary.)

Headstones- 16
The Watchmen- 15
Skydiggers- 10+
54-40- 10+

Bands I've seen at least 5 times:

The Weakerthans
Sam Roberts
Cuff the Duke
Wilco
Lowest of the Low
Sarah Harmer
Blue Rodeo
Wintersleep
The Mahones
Steve Earle
The Pursuit of Happiness
Weeping Tile
Chris Brown & Kate Fenner

I am super jealous of you for seeing PJ that many times! I've only seen them 3 times. And I'd love to see the Weakerthans, they are amazing.

My stats: Hip 18 times, #2 probably a tie between Sloan and BNL around 6-7 times ( my wife is a huge BNL fan so I've seen lots of shows with her) .

Re: What's your number? - fingernailsonhull - 01-26-2013

I've never had much in the way of expendable cash, so I've seen The Hip eight times and only a few have I seen twice - Joel Plaskett, The Rural Alberta Advantage...and I think there might be one or two others.

Many bands I've seen once:

BNL, OLP, Arkells, Death Cab, Weakerthans, Sadies, Coldplay, U2, Rush, Wintersleep, Dan Mangan, and a handful of others, too.

Re: What's your number? - HandsInTheRiver41 - 01-26-2013

Dave matthews band - 15 (but not since 2008)
The hip - 9
Phish - 7
