Music@Work was the first HIP album that really dragged me in as an album. I love the vibe.
I can't believe no one has mentioned The Bastard. I love that song.
Something about the word augar.
As an aside, can someone tell me how you pronounce Langlois? Seems kind of wrong to love a band and not know how to say their names. It's not something I really want to go and start a thread about.

I've been listening to The Hip since Up To Here came out and have seen them live on pretty much every tour since Road Apples. When M@W came out I thought it was crap. Then about a year later I "got" it and it has been for me since then, the best album they have ever done. I think it displays them at their most creative - moving away from the need to fall back on banging out rockers and instead they took an introspective approach seen on earlier songs such as Sherpa, Escape, Emperor Penguin etc, The Apartment Song, etc. I'm glad that now on the 4th album following its release that they are finally playing songs apart from M@W as they are all awesome and encapsulate the reason I love the band so much.
We Are The Same could be my #2 now as I think creatively speaking these two albums are soul mates.

Music at Work is a great album...The Completists is a gem for me. But, they have played the crap out of MAW (the song). It is poppy and almost embarassing to listen to as a diehard fan, knowing how much better the other material on the album is. And that whole Robbie Baker playing MAW in open tuning then head banging in front of John Fay at the end of the song seems very scripted. Love the album, just see MAW as the equivalent to In View or Courage. Radio songs that get in the way of the really good material.

M@W is a killer record.
Bastard and Freak Turbulence the only two I don't like a lot or love.
I was never huge on the title track, although as time has passed, I've decided that it makes a solid live number. :thumb:

I could go without seeing M@W and Train Overnight live.
Train just never seemed very good live to me, kinda the guys going through the song and the audience not caring.

Finally The Hip's long lost child has been brought home. Since the M@W tour they have pretty much only ever played M@W and Lake Fever on occasion. In 5 shows they have now played:
1. Music @ Work
2. Tiger The Lion
3. Lake Fever
4. Putting Down
5. Stay
6. The Bear
7. Toronto#4
WoW! I never thought I'd see the day where they acted as proud of this album as it deserves but that day is here.

Definitely a solid album. Tiger The Lion, Stay, title track, The Completists, Wild Mountain Honey, Sharks, Freak Turbulence, Lake Fever are all :thumb:
