I dunno about you Matt, but the gig on Friday has got me absolutely hooked. Despite the dodgy sound (at least where I was standing) it was an amazing night!!

Yeah, I absolutely loved it, I've never been to a gig before wherew thtere's been such a feel good vibe throughout the entire audience... and I've vertainly never enjoyed myself while queuing before!

Here's to the next time... even though we might have to wait a couple of years! :thumb:

I reckon its something to do with the Canadians. The crowd were amazing when I saw Our Lady Peace in Montreal! Easily the loudest crowd I've ever heard, but really friendly with.

It must be... when I get rich I'll hire Canadians to go to every gig with me to chill out the crowd and drink lots of beer!

 They seem to be good at that! I miss Molson beer - it's really nice.

I have a friend who lives in Montreal (the guy that got me into TTH and OLP) and he's always said Montreal is "A city that knows how to party" - he's not wrong!!

I'd love to go back to Canada soon.

I've never been... I really should though, and it's on the list (a list that just keeps growing). But it's Amsterdam next for me, then back to New York.

Matty, Zenith, Glad you are enjoying the music, nice to have you on board. It is great to see some more UK'ers getting into the band, spread the word.

Thanks NMAS. Big Grin Yeah, I'm really loving The Hip at the moment! I can't wait to see them again (although it looks like I'm gonna to.) Sad Hopefully they'll come over here again soon - or I'll be over in Canada again soon.

Either way is good. Wink

I really need to go see the Hip in Europe one of these days. Sounds like the atmosphere was amazing. I'm insanely jealous! The shows here in Canada are great, but they can get pretty rough sometimes in regards to the crowd. I definitely prefer the smaller gigs in the U.S. The atmosphere is so much better, and it makes it easier to enjoy the show. I imagine the shows in Europe are even better.

t was superb, and as Zenith said, it's rare to find a show with such a good atmosphere in London!

Hopefully they'll play London again soon(ish)... we could have a big group meet up!

I've been watching the 'That night in Totonto' DVD a lot since the gig, and I was shocked to see them playing the Air Canada centre. I felt so lucky to have seen them in a such a tiny venue in comparison! Big Grin The atmosphere is just so intense! (Sorry to keep going on about it! :oopsSmile

I'd love to see them in London again, but I also like to see them on their home turf.

In Toronto the Hip are bigger than God. I think they've played the Air Canada Centre every year since the place first opened. It's definitely fun to see the Hip on their home soil because of the circus-like atmosphere. The crowds are so insane, and it's more like an event than a concert. But as big as they are in this country, this band was always meant to be seen up close and personal. I've had the pleasure of seeing the boys at a variety of intimate venues down in the U.S., and for me that's the best way to see them. The Somerville Theatre in Boston was probably the coolest venue I've ever seen them in. It was the only Hip show I've been to where I was able to stand right in the front row with my elbows resting on the stage as the band played. And I didn't have to worry about getting kicked in the head by idiot crowd surfers. It was beautiful!

I'd like to see them in a big venue, I think it would be quite the contrast!

I've seen them in various different venues...large arenas, small club, theatres, and outdoor festivals. They all have their own unique qualities and I appreciate them all. My favorite of them all was seeing them at a relatively small outdoor festival in Aspen Co, and I was able to get to be at the front of the stage and dance around the whole show and not worry about any elbows or boots coming my way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was that the show where the Black Crowes headlined? What an incredible double-bill that must have been. My friend and I were gonna drive down from Calgary for that gig, but we ended up changing our plans and flying to San Francisco for the High Sierra show instead. 1998 was a good year to be a Hip fan.
