While we are talking about songs to be appreciated...I love Toronto #4!
Don't know why, but it is great. A little short, but just perfect.
Glad to actually hear this live during the "Evening With" shows
...and keeping the thread on topic, NO THREAT RULES!!

No Threat...
...it proves my point that the Hip have quietly (or not so 'quietly!') gone from being an arena-rock, radio-friendly act---albeit a really, really good and smart one---to having a much edgier and 'underground' sound, and generally being much more whacked-out. Or at least, that's what's happened on IBE and 'No Threat.' NT and SIKU are, to me, the quinessential realization of the Hip as a cranky, utterly demented underground band. It'll be interesting to see if the new record continues to mine that vein, which I just love.

To each his own.
To me, the Hip are best when they slow things down and not so cranky...

Um...I am hugely late on this one, but I just listened to "No Threat" 6 times over and I love it. I was iffy before, but now...yeah. Late bloomer, I is.

I liked No Threat right away.
50 Mission Cap, on the other hand.... It's still one of my least favourite Hip songs. I don't hate it by any stretch but I feel like a lesser fan because it's supposed to be their magnum opus - their great contribution to Canada's musical identity - and I live with or without it.

This is completely off topic, but...
why is Train Overnight so damn good? My god, it's one of those hip songs you've heard, and then after a while you get REALLY into.

It's even better live, in my not-so-humble opinion. I'm not sure which show the version I have is taken from, but it's all kinds of wow.

but back to No Threat....
...as with alot of Hip songs, it's so much better live. Between the two live versions, I personally like the one from Newfoundland better. Although its not as clear, and impossible to determine the lyrics if you don't know them... it just seems faster and higher energy. I can't wait for this entire show to be on the tracker!
