I really like SOF and saw them a few times. Bootsauce I only saw a couple times and I can barely remember them but I remember them being.....different.

Ahhh CanRock, gotta love it.
A was raised on mid-late 80's and early 90's MuchMusic. I remember the Northern Pikes, Pseudo Echo (not Canadian, but they did a FANTASTIC version of the song "Funky Town"), the Pursuit of Happiness, 54-40, the Leslie Spit Trio, .... the list could go on and on.
My favorite Canadian bands of that era are as follows (including personal favorite songs:
the Skydiggers - Slow Burning Fire, Swamp Boogie
54-40 - Blame your Parents, Assoholic
the Tea Party - 13th Apostle, the River
I Mother Earth - Not Quite Sonic, Raspberry
the Cash Brothers - Nebraska
Blue Rodeo - Diamond Mine, 5 Days in May
the Rheostatics - Record Body Count, P.I.N (not from the 80's/90's era, but it's a GREAT tune!)
Sloan - I am the Cancer, People of the Sky
Ghandharvas - First Day of Spring, Downtown? (or was is Down Time?)
Thrush Hermit - From the Back of the Film, the Day we Hit the Coast
Eric's Trip - Stove/Smother, New Love

I have to nominate Chris and Kate's old band, Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. Two great, eclectic albums of magic and music. Be my witness and Simple are still in my song rotation.

I love the Bourbons. Shyfolk is still an great record, and "Simple" is quite possibly one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking songs ever written. Did you know they recorded that song completely live off the floor in one take? Amazing. I remember reading somewhere that the song was written as a tribute to Chris' father who had passed away while they were making the album.
I recommend picking up their greatest hits/compilation album "1985 - 1995". It's a cool collection of album tracks, live stuff, and interview clips. It's hard to find at most record stores, but I'm pretty sure you can order it from Chris & Kate's website.
