What if Ackroyd Toured with the Hip?
#16

although his performance may have been a little lacking at live 8, i thought that he did an excellent job at the kingston performance during blow at high dough

i agree with all the comments about no harmonica but i like the idea of the blues brothers playing with the hip...i have often thought of what the hip would sound like with horns behind them...i saw blue rodeo with a horn section and it was awesome and both the band's rock of ages and last waltz sound great with horns, but it works because they only play on certain tracks...i can hear horns on tracks like makeshift, courage, fireworks, MAW, nashville, NOIS (just to spice it up a bit), just to name a few

I actually liked the Akroyd/Hip Live 8 combo... The mix was off, but it wasn't Dan's fault.

I've got no problems with Dan and the Boys havin' a little fun. It's just music, let's not take it too seriously.

He *is* a Bules Brother, dammit. 8)

I would be about as unhappy to see him up there as I would to see Carlos "I can't play in key" Santana.

It would just suck the life out of the band.

Are you sure you're not a stand-up comic?

Because it seems every second or third post you make, I end up laughing my ass off!

OK, OK, personally, I think akyroid was great on SNL, he had more than 1 cheesy sketch (blues brothers, submarine samaruai (sp?) "two wild and crazzy guys!", the coneheads, just off the top of my head...and then he has had some great movies, I wont debate which were good and which were crap, but Ghostbusters is my fav comedy of all time!

I kinda like the idea of a harmonica on some of the songs, but I would like them to practice it a bit more than at live8, I htought it was different but sometimes it sounded awful, but it could be good.

so what i mean to say is if they practice a bit (and it sounds good) I would like to hear/see it.

(just got off night shift, my brain isnt working too well....)

I dont agree with that at all, how is it sacrilegious? Was it sacrilegious to have Kate and Chris touring with them? It might not appeal to you, but whats wrong with jazzing up the sound or adding a new dimension to the songs? After playing NOIS for 20 years, maybe a different sound would be welcomed and a nice change, lets say just for a few shows or one tour, oooh big deal. I saw Blue Rodeo with the added horn section as well and they sounded amazing, the songs took on a whole new life and persona and they came off sounding wonderful live. And I doubt the Hip would do anything like that if it didnt work for them or the fans.

give your head a shake, after you take it out of your ass.. :thumb:
