Best of luck knowing everything there is to know about your daughter's friends.
Be realistic.
And telling your daughter that she can't hang out with a friend because of that video game would only make her more curious. Geeze man, did you have a childhood? Did your parents know everything there was to know about your friends? Did they know about everything that you did?
Look, the only point I am trying to make is that a kid coming across this game is hardly a function of good or bad parenting. Sure, if you let your ten year old buy this game and play it, then that is bad parenting. But if your kid comes across it at a friend's place because that friend has an older brother, well that is hardly a function of poor parenting. You are living in a dream world if you think you are going to be able to control everything your daughter sees.

Again, as I stated, YOU can do all YOU want to make sure a game like this doesn't get into YOUR house. But how do you control against what your kids' friends' parents allow/disallow? How do you control against your kids' friends having older siblings who generally have more leeway (and in many cases, poor judgement)?
When I was a kid, I had a couple of friends with older brothers and I saw a lot of things at a young age that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I don't see how that reflects on my parents' ability to parent.
I'm not so naive to believe that when my son gets old enough and starts going to his friends houses that I'm going to know everything that he is doing. As an (apparently) all knowing parent, what do you suggest? That when he gets home I grill him on what he did, what he saw, and what was said? Or do I take an inventory of his friends' houses, including a scan of their hard drive to see what's on the computer? Is there some sort of test I should administer to his friends' parents?

So you don't think a parent can control who his kid hangs out with?
My parents did.
You're just making excuses for parents who are too lazy or otherwise unwilling to ensure thattheir children are appropriately supervised. There comes a time (age) where this becomes difficult to do, no doubt....but by that time, things like animated sex scenes aren't a major concern.......

Well, skippy, if it doesn't apply to you, fine. But the are lots of "parents these days" that are shirking their responsibilities to their children by neglecting to supervise them and set boudaries. I don't see how you can even BEGIN to argue that, but whatever.
Believe it or not, there are MILLIONS of kids with these "AO" games in their possession. And for most every one, there's a lousy parent who either doesn't know or care that they have 'em.
The point is, it's no one's responsibility to ensure that this CRAP stays out of the hands of children but the PARENTS. Not the GOVERNMENT'S, not the VENDORS, not the MARKETERS. It's on mothers and fathers. Period.

If it's important enough to raise your kids properly, you MAKE it "the good ole days", not in the outside world, but in your household. You'd be surprised what you as a parent are privy to if you take a deep interest in your child's life, establish open lines of communication, and put a premium on honesty and decency.
Good luck raising your daughter - sounds you're gonna need it. Either that or some better excuses.
