Double-disc Greatest Hits?
#16

direwolf74 Wrote:If it's really a double-disc, I'm hoping they do a greatest hits/b-sides combination, sort of like what U2 did on their "best of" albums. Put the hits on one disc and the b-sides on the other.

Yeah, that would at least be a little more worth it for most fans, that way they spend the money where about half the songs are new to them, instead of shelling out the cash for only two new songs.

Or they could take a page out of Pearl Jam's book and put out a double disc greatest hits AND a double disc b-sides album. Wishful thinking, I know, but with a back catalogue as large as the Hip's, I'd say anything is possible.

Continuing on wishful thinking. I would love to have everything included, and make it a box set. Have it all: rarities disc, best of double disc, dvd, book, etc. Make it worth it.

However, no matter what they put out, I will buy it. Anything new, or semi-new, from the Hip is good enough for me. But a box set would be cool.

They wont go chronological order on this one, will they? It'd be cool if they could construct a little narrative, et al.

Think these tunes will be remastered?

I think they will go chronological order and you will find all of the tunes mentioned above except replace Highway Girl with Wheat Kings, Twist My Arm with Courage, and SKU with Heaven is a Better Place Today and reshuffle the deck accordingly.

and did I mention ......... "booooooooooooooooooooo".

I hope they prove me wrong.

I hope they don't do Chrono order I hate that, gets boring quick, I picked up Mellencamps words and music, it isn't in chronological order and it is fantastic.

Not Blonde Solid Wrote:It's in the works...you heard it here first.

When i asked my source about an accompanying dvd, he said he hadn't heard.

This is all the info i have, but it is from a very reliable source.

ETA? unknown at this point
Content? 2 new songs (perhaps already recorded at Bathouse).

When i hear more, i will let you all know.

On another note, Bobby Baker will be performing in Jesus Christ Superstar in Kingston....scheduled to begin in April.

Further to the information I reported last week, I have been informed that a DVD will accompany the Greatest Hits cd. The dvd is a full length concert of a show taped during the IBE tour. The entire set (dvd and cd's) is expected to be released this coming April.

scottitude Wrote:As for Rob portraying Christ, he's definitely got the "look" down, but has anyone heard him sing? I'm just asking 'cause I don't know if I've ever seen him with a mic. I'm a hardcore Superstar fan & JC's vocals cover a pretty wide range so he'd have to be a pretty talented vocalist to even attempt the role.

Of course, if Rob's Christ has a Fender slung over his shoulder... Smile

No JC for Bobby. Bobby is playing Caiaphus. See the following link: http://www.jcss2005.com/cast.html

I just looked it up and how ironic. He's playing a high priest, who sent Jesus to his crucifixtion when he's an atheist and he wanted to become a minister if the band didn't come along

that's what I found here

Right now I own a solid. . 30 different greatest hits cds, maybe more. This greatest hits will sell a TON.

The thing is. I know I will be disappointed with whatever is on it. In my opinion 50% of The Hip's catalogue could make it onto a greatest hits album.

Okay, given the type of voice needed for Caiaphus, that makes sense. I'm still giggling, but it makes sense.

and if you ask somebody else, they'll swear to you that the OTHER 50% should be on a greatest hits album.
