Well to be quite honest, I was so damned close to having 1000 post, I just was trying to find places to make posts. I also wanted to make a joke too

Thank god I'm no longer a sherpa. I really don't like that song.

Neil Young to Rock Canada's Juno Awards in April
Wed Jan 26, 2005 02:45 AM ET

By Etan Vlessing
TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - Rock legend Neil Young is set to make a rare awards show appearance at Canada's Juno Awards in Winnipeg on April 3, organizers said Tuesday.

Young was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1982 and has earned three Juno awards during his nearly 40-year career. Dubbed the "godfather of grunge," Young is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee both as a solo artist and as a member of Buffalo Springfield.

Also set to appear onstage at the MTS Center in Winnipeg are the 2005 Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees the Tragically Hip. Other Canadian performers will be named in the coming weeks. The Junos will air live nationwide on the CTV network.

BEST ROCK ALBUM of 2000: Music @ Work

Too bad that wasnt really the best album of 2001, though; or even the Hip's best.

I remember the early days when the Hip used to literally make fun of the Junos and all the crappy bands that were awarded stuff on them. I did that too. I mean Loverboy won Junos for 'best group' and 'best album' for crying out loud; in fact they won about half a dozen Junos. So did Platinum Blonde, and they were repellent. Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger... they all did too, each and every one of them revolting and embarrassing. That's what was so cool about the Hip; they were like a fresh vaccine antidote to all that garbage back then, so I dont blame them for not caring much about the Junos.

But being nominated into the Canadian Music hall Of fame alongside the likes of The Band, Neil Young, The Guess Who etc..is something entirely different; that really is an honour. I still remember watching that show where the Hip got the Juno for 'Most Promising Group' ..

..and now they are being inducted into the Hall Of Fame, entirely deservedly so, for being not only the outstanding musicians and songwriters they are, but also on account of their love for this country and their ability to incorporate uniquely Canadian soundscapes sightscapes into their compositions, whilst not compromising their artistic integrity. That really is a phenomenon these days.

Three cheers. I'd like to see them do a few tunes ranging over their career. Or perform with Neil Young, that would be cool. I remember once when someone asked Neil (who was 'helping out' Pearl Jam at the time) asking, "Neil, you are Canadian so why dont you help out the Tragically Hip instead?" To which Neil replied," They dont need my help.."

Neil and the Hip playing together would be too good to be true. I can't see it happening but if it did it would be ridiculously incredible. Knowing Neil and the way he is, I won't believe he's playing at the Junos until April 3 comes around. lol Gord did some fascinating, great Neil covers with TCOM though. "Barstool Blues" and "When You Dance I Can Really Love", two great songs!!!

The Hip and Neil at an awards show!!!! Who would've thought eh?

I'm pretty sure Neil is only gonna show up because the show is in Winnipeg. I'd like to see a little speil on Winnipeg's musical history too..what with the Guess Who, Randy Bachman, and Neil etc all being from there.

First the Hip, and now Neil Young? Nice! I usually hate the Junos, but this year's show sounds like it might actually be worth watching for a change. I'd love to see Neil jam with the Hip. I get goose bumps just thinking about what that would sound like.
