If IBE is supposed to be a return to 'off the floor' song recording, it's hard to believe they cant get a live version working...
I guess i am just ticked that I had to listen to Nashville three times live this year and HotM zeeeero...doesnt seem fair, god I even sat through Tiger the Lion twice...Im friggin due....

I'm pretty sure it's been played five times in total....
Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver club shows. Toronto (Mod Club 2nd night - live broadcast), and Philly.
If you look at the pictures of the setlists on thehip.com it looks like it was planned at Darien Lake as well, but dropped.

for me this tune initially took a couple of listens, to get into it, but it eventually became my fave off IBE.
in some ways i'm disappointed i never got to hear it played live...i guess i'll survive...

At first I liked it because it seemed like a great "throw away the rudder" rock song, just wailing on the guitars in overdrive. Now that I've gotten used to it I only love it more because I get into the underlying melody and it's actually a lot more technical than I thought it was at first. Maybe Gord can't sing this fast in concert??

I liked the Philly version, especially Rob's pick slides (lots). However, I don't think it was as rocking as on the album - needed to be more in your face.

I saw it live in Edmonton this summer. It was the last song in the regular set and it tore the place apart! I thought it was the best set closer I had ever seen. I was sure that it would be a regular set closer for them on this tour, but obviously not. Nonetheless, I feel very lucky having seen it because they nailed it and it was incredible! (not to brag or anything :oops: )

i saw it in edmonton as well and i don`t think i moved the entire song...just kinda stood there with my mouth agape...it kicked my ass hard

When they played Heart of the Melt in Philly it was awesome. When I talked to Gord Sinclair in Detroit and asked him to play it he said he would try. 3 concerts later they did, after the Philly show I told him that it sounded great, he thought so to, he said that they almost did not play it, he said that he promised me that he would and he really has to twist their arms to play it. So someone in the band must not like to play it. Gord D. maybe?
