They lost Boland, Syvret, and Perry to team Canada, and Robby Shremp to the U.S..

Not too sure why Dylan Hunter didnt get the call for Canada, I guess that shows the depth of the Knights!

D'oh! Well... all good things come to an end I guess. So London's unbeaten streak is officially stopped at 31 games. Still, it took having their three best players away at World Junior camps, plus a late third-period goal and two empty-netters, for someone to do what no one has done this year and beat the Knights.

Great job boys! Next unbeaten streak starts next game, at one...

LONDON, Ont. (CP) - It took almost three months, but the London Knights have finally lost a game.

Bobby Chaumont broke a 2-2 tie at 14:19 of the third period on Friday as the Sudbury Wolves skated to a 5-2 victory over London, ending the Knights season-long unbeaten streak at 31 games.

London broke the record set by the Brandon Wheat Kings, who started the 1978-79 season without a loss in 29 games (24-0-5). The Knights started the season on Sept. 24 with a 4-3 win over Kitchener and haven't lost since.

Rafal Martynowski also scored twice for Sudbury (15-14-3-2), who also got goals from Benoit Pouliot and Ryan McDonough.

Trevor Kell and Steve Ferry replied for the Knights (29-1-2), who were playing without OHL leading scorer Corey Perry, and defencemen Danny Syvret and Rob Schremp.

Perry and Syvret are with Canada's world junior team while Schremp has joined Team U.S.A.

Patrick Ehelechner made 34 saves in goal for Sudbury while Gerald Coleman stopped 22 shots for the Knights.

I didn't know that at the time... so that makes the win even more impressive.

BUT... Sudbury is still far from the team London is. Good teams carry on momentum after big wins, and also bounce back after tough losses.

London... bounced back with a come-from-behind win over Guelph, which shows they are a good team.

Sudbury... got HAMMERED 7-2 by Brampton, so clearly they are not yet a good team, certainly not in the Knights' league.

I'm a proud Sudbury Wolves alumni and I must say I am ecstatic for the boys and for Coach Foligno, they've had a rough last several seasons after making a hard push for the Mem cup, giving up a bunch of draft picks and now suffering the consequences. Hopefully this will give them the push that they need to bring them back to respectable levels again.
Congrats to the Knights, that was an awesome accomplishment, but again I've gotta tip the cap to my old squad...somewhere Dino the popcorn man and the Happy Trumpeter are smiling.

i hate to break it to you man, but the happy trumpeter hasn't been around at games for a loooooooooooooooooong time, we have jimmy the 50/50/marijuana guy though! he's the shit, i first met him at 2am sept 16, 2000, standing outside the arena waiting for hip tix to go on sale. the hilarity that ensued is of lengendary status :lol:. methinks Jimmy knows the band somehow too because he got himself bumped up to the front row in front of front row, right at Gord's feet. lucky bastard, oh well, that's cool, i was front row anyway, Jimmy looooooooooves the hip, he was like, freakin out jumpin around and singing every word all night right there in front of Gord, it was great :lol:.

Oh I know...the Happy Trumpeter was gone way before I dawned the blue, grey and white, but he still holds a place in every Wolve fan's heart...however Dino was still around schlepping Orville Redenbacher's finest. Alas, he has traveled to the great popcorn stand in the sky, where the kernels are pre-buttered and arteries are cholesterol retartant...what a glorious place that must be.
