Well then, that's just a weird coincedence. There is a boat at Whitby Yacht Club, same name as you. Have a good one!

Opener - Poets
Closer - Fifty Mission Cap

most definately Grace, Too for an opener, now the closer has different meanings, i've always thought 50mc in toronto, and fire in the hole anywhere else. However, 3 pistols is making a strong case for itself. i enjoy it 2nd in the line up, but it wouldn't make a bad finisher.

Grace, Too just reminds me of entrance music for a boxer or a wrestler. Sort of like the Hip's way of saying "it's on now!!!!"

Well I would have to agree with a few of you who said:
Grace as an opener and Blow for a closer Smile

It does not get better than "Grace too" as an opening and no song lets Gord go into a better rant in closing out a show than "Fire in the Hole."

The most powerful hip opener I've seen is "Tiger the Lion"... grace too is great of course, but when the hip come out to the loop of tiger the lion... boy that sends shivers up my spine

Best Opener: Fully Completely
Best Closer: Blow at High Dough.....always good to go out with a bang!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Wow, talk about digging up a thread from the dead...

I love Grace, Too as the opener, especially if it's backed up with Fully Completely right after... that is a devastating one-two opening combo!

Closing? Blow is an easy choice, and so is Little Bones, but Fire in the Hole would be my pick.

Grace 2 is a no-brainer but what about Grace 2 as a closer? They closed the JUNO performance with Grace 2 and it was awesome!! Blow is a great closer but alsoa great opener when it's Roadside (out oat the speedway), and I would die happy if the opened a show with Smalltown Bringdown (well if they played it period actually).

There is a line from the Canadian movie "Luck" that goes something like "If you like Sex better than Gambling, you're not Gambling right". I think of this whenever I hear someone mention a song other than Grace Too as the greatest Hip Opener.

Grace Too is not just, the best opener, Grace Too is - "The Opener". It defines the band, it defines the night, it is more than expected. I recall seeing them use it later in the night at a Massey Hall show, and it felt like something was wrong, it was like watching old simpsons episodes where homers voice is a tad different.

Perhaps it was put into stone with the release of Live Between Us, which stands as the example of what a Hip Live show is for those who have not had the fortune of seeing them yet. Listening to that version of Grace Too, it is hard to image any other way to begin a Hip Show right.

So for those who have said that 'Use it up' or 'Tiger the Lion' are the best openers, with respect to your opinions, you must not be gambling right.

ps.

IMO, Blow at High Dough or Little Bones makes for a killer closing
