ya sorry If I rocked our little ship, didn't mean to cause havoc on the High Sea'z

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

Thank you Lance!

The large avatars were ruining the Hipbase experience, squeezing the text portion.

I've always wondered what the fascination with avatars is. Can anyone shed some light on it? As well, why do so few people want to use their real names?

My name is Chris, and that's me in the picture. :thumb:

My name is Chris too, but it was taken already - so I reverted to my work login.

Hence the decision of most people to use a username... not only is it more uniquely suited to you because it's something you thought up or were inspired to take after, but names are boring and half the country probably have the same 50 names!

My username is a Hip lyric...well, in true fan fashion, I'm actually named after a rant...which to me is more interesting than "Neil". It has nothing to do with confidentiality since a lot of folks know my name anyway.

Perhaps I shold have worded my question more carefully. I understand the need for a username, but very few people even sign/include their real name in their posts (or automatic signature).

This is a beef of mine, mainly because of trading/B&Ps'. People PM me, from their username based account, ask for a show, don't tell me their real name, and then when the package shows up, they haven't included a note saying what show they wanted, and strangely, the package is addressed to people with names likes Chris & Neil.

I know I've been on this soapbox for a while, but I am teetering on the edge of becoming a taper/trader that keeps everything to himself because of frustration.

Ah...I see what you mean. I'm usualyl pretty clear about getting people's info because I get asked a lot and I want to keep everything together, and I find people are pretty reasonable, even if you have to ask them for info...but from a trading point of view I see where you're coming from.

While we're on the topic, two things that almost drive me to keeping stuff to myself are: people often send terrible CDRs, brands I haven't even heard of, that have a high error rate and... 2) the number of people who set up deals and don't follow through. I have brought two shows to the community (with some help) and there must have been 15 or 20 people combined who wanted the shows. I only ended up doing 3 B&P's. Having to go through the process of setting it up, waiting for the discs, and contacting everyone to say what's up is really annoying considering it's supposed to be a favour.

I'm seriously not a grouch...I'm just grouchy
