little question about large avatars - grooveless touque - 07-31-2004

so I noticed a number of people now have huge pictures where my little train is. I wanted to put the full size pic (150x150 pixels) but when I went to try it, the profile thing told me the size limit was still 70x70 or 7kb, just like it always was. That can't be true because I see MUCH bigger pics out there and I was wondering how it's done??

I noticed mine is gone, it wasn't that large... what's the new limit?

Yeah, what's up? My Captain Canuck is gone.... Cry

- mrlayance - 08-01-2004

People abused it, no remote avators at all. That is the only option I have.

Well, it's your site, man... I just hope you don't consider me as one of those who abused it, I tried to keep them thinner so they weren't squishing the actual text people post. I thought it might have to do with bandwidth cuz I've read on some sites, people saying "don't link to this picture, save it on your own PC" type-thing cuz of bandwidth but I know nothing of it...

My avatar of Gord was pretty huge, sorry about that. Didn't realise I was causing trouble

Thank you Lance!

The large avatars were ruining the Hipbase experience, squeezing the text portion.

I've always wondered what the fascination with avatars is. Can anyone shed some light on it? As well, why do so few people want to use their real names?

My name is Chris, and that's me in the picture. :thumb:

I've actually used Lord Brazle ever since I was rapping at 17 (like five years ago). And when I signed up on the hipbase here, it was the first thing that came to mind. It sticks out, kinda. You'd remember "Lord Brazle" before you'd remember plain old "Stu"... but who even cares? "Great little history lesson there, Stu" I thought it was relevant! Big Grin

Is there anyway to change our name then - but still keep all of our info the same like amount of posts - when we signed up - what number in order did we sign up, etc.

I've wondered that also.
Maybe Lance could do it somehow.
Or he'll read this and tell you what to do...

My real name would sound like a nick to all of you [Image: fluitje002.gif]
