Yes, well, the idea of smashing a bottle like that just seems so barbaric and mindless, not something that Gord would do. The notion that this is true doesnt seem reasonable to me. Thats my opinion.

I'm pretty sure this sounds familiar though.
Maybe not Gord's ritual but isn't there someone that used to do this or it was on a movie or something?
I've searched for something similar to it but can't find anything.

BUT I think at some point I watched a performance and saw Jim Morrison do it.
Could be mistaken though...
A RECORDED performance of course, in 1970 I was negative 12 years old :lol:

I absolutely agree. As soon as I read the original post about Gord smashing the bottle I remembered seeing Jim doing that on some video of concert footage I have seen. Man the Doors were great.

In a the classic NOIS Frogman - Skindiver rant (1991-04-20 - Chicago), Gord says he takes a couple of shots of Chivas Regal before putting on his scuba gear and his mask.
I guess he likes the Scotch & Whisk(e)y.

Ah... good old Fisherman's Paradise... haven't heard that one in a while. I'm such a Hip geek that back in my drinking days, I'd down that shit just 'cause Gord mentioned it.

Couldn't tell ya where. Maybe it was a story about Jim or somebody had told me that, but for some reason I got my mind bent on the fact that it was Jim. Either he chugged like a quarter of the bottle and then smashed it against the wall and said kinda like "let's do this." or something.... Or someone he didn't like or something gave him the bottle and he drank a couple gulps and smashed it, I don't really know... But it sounds superfamiliar and it's gonna bug me for a long time.

And ya I could defineatley see Mr. Mojo Rising doin something like that, when he waz hammed, he waz quite the madman. The movie made Jim look like basically his world revolved around a bottle and whatever kinda drug waz available that day.But he waz much more than that, the man read, read, read and read some more., having said what I said about the movie, i still liked it...it exposed alot of people to the magic of the band~~~
