I remember reading that the Hip said GEMS marked a shift in the future musical direction of the band. What's a more appropriate closer than something looking towards the future?

I will say that the extended version they play live helped make my decision.

I have a three way tie going on...Emperor Penguin, Dark Canuck, and Goodnight Josephine. All three are just top notch, in my opinion. However, I will always have a soft spot for Emperor Penguin.

Yeah Gems is a killer ender, same with Opiated and Josephine. Hey they've got a knack for album enders.

Eldorado is definately my favourite....sheer genious, and so beautiful. Almost has a hypnotic quality to it. It literally puts me in a trance.

Dark Canuck and Impossibilium, don't know why but I really dig both of them a lot.

Canuck, I find it is very close to "band on the run", but maybe it's just me, however the song just consumes me when I hear it.
