Least fave song on IBE
#16

I finally picked up the cd yesterday...i was hoping to get it at the show but they werent selling it there, and the music stores were closed by the time i got there after the show sooo....

anyways courtesy of the egde playing vaccination scar every 45 minutes on the radio and me having it tuned in all day long at work, i'm gonna say VS. I honestly cannot beleive how awsome the entire CD is and am only picking VS because ive heard it so many damn times...

couldnt even sleep in today in anticipation of the show...630 and im wide awake... :jump

can't believe Makeshift made this list, it's my favorite song to crank up... but that's the beauty of music and how it touches people in different ways.

Funny! we have the exact opposite opinions. I TOTALLY dig One Night in Coppenhagen..It's a fun song! :jump I play it three times in a row to make up for it's shortness  .

Makeshift is the weakest me thinks.

One Night in Coppenhagen is definately the worst of the bunch, followed by Summer, nashville and heaven.

The best is:
You're Everywhere
Heart of the Melt
Goodnight Josephine
As Makeshift
Gus
VS
New Orleans is Beat
Are we Family

Makeshift is in my opinion the worst song the hip have put out since The rules

The chorus sounds just terrible and they sing it over and over and over....the rest of the album is brilliant - I agree with an earlier post about Copenhagen its a great great song - mixes some gordie stream of conciouness rant with a wicked groove - i like the songs that paint a visual picture though - like Nautical, Josephine, WHeat Kings

Really?? I LOVE Makeshift. Absolutely love it! The chorus is catchy as hell, and I find myself screaming along with it everytime I hear the song. During the album premiere on the radio a few nights ago, the host called it the "anchor of the album" or something like that. I totally agree.

I'm with you on that...

I don't know why people like to dissect every album, and can't just enjoy it for what it is. I'll never understand.

direwolf, I'm with you on Makeshift. I can't understand the negativity towards the song. I think it's one of the top two or three songs on the album. "I'm too drunk for this, yeah I'm too drunk for this", that's great!

If I had to pick the weakest songs I'd say "Summer is Killing Us" and maybe "If New Orleans is Beat" but it is all relative. They are both pretty good songs but I don't think they are up to the level of the rest of the tunes.

It's amazing how the favorites vary so much between us. I guess i'd say Are We Family or New Orleans is my least favorite, but I still like them both. You're Everywhere and The Heart of The Melt are my favs.

This is the first album since Fully Completely where I can honestly say there is not one bad song on it.
All of IBE makes me

These are the only songs that make me
IVL - Throwing Off Glass
M@W - Wind Down the Pines & Wild Mountain Honey
PP - The Rules & Thompson Girl (I know, you love this song but Gord shouldn't ever try to sing this high!)
TATH - Falmenco, Butts Wigglin', Put It Off (another one I cannot figure out why people love it)
DFN - Titanic Terrarium
EP - I'm A Warewolf, Baby

Yeah yeah.
In previous posts I said I hated this song...
Now it just grew on me.
Now I like it.
F**king Hip.
They have a tendency to do that to me.
I hate a song and end up loving it.
Same thing happened with The Luxury back in the day.
I hated it and then one day was too lazy to run to the CD player to change it and now it's one of my faves.

So, just so everybody knows, I no longer hate "Are We Family". :thumb:

I don't think I could have posted this before this CD. I would be totally satisfied if The Hip played only their new album in concert. It always took me a while to warm up to some songs, even on my most favorite Hip CD. After only a few listens, each IBE tune touches me in some way.

:thumb: LOL!WOW!

BUT, it would be a very short show since the longest tune is barely over 4 minutes and most are only 2 1/2 to 3 minutes long.

Confusedcratch:

The Hip continues to be a driving force in my life. Does that sound too corny?

Nope. I got more serious about writing after I read/heard the lyrics on Phantom Power. And plus, I always seem to hear Hip songs in the back of my head kosher to my mood... It's like a musical score over the events of my life....
