Well, I've seen the Hip at Darien Lake twice now. I've been on the lawn both times, by choice. I find the sound to be great, and I really, really think having a camera on Gord and it being projected out onto a large screen throughout the whole show to be a good idea. I have seen the Hip from the front row a few times, but I'm going with friends that have never seen the band from anywhere but the lawn. I'm just wondering if I'm close enough for them to be able to see the band. It's so hard to tell from some of these seating charts.

I got campsites 746 & 751. Excellent spot. I was near that area the last time, and at around 4:00pm, we heard the Hip play their soundcheck. If I recall, the 3 songs in order were : Dire Wolf, Puttin' Down, Wherewithal. Quite the time.

From the lawn at darien lake, you can see the stage and band pretty well, but not good enough to see facial expressions.

Hey Andre, how do you know what campsite #'s you have. I've booked reservations online, but they told me nothing about where I am.
I'll have to give them a call.

Call them up (585) 599-2211. I hate booking those kind of things online because you can't ask any questions. Also, make sure they give you a sunny site. You may think you want shade, but there's really no grass on the shaded sites. All dirt and hills under the trees. They'll change your site for you if you give them a call. You also want to be as close to Darien Square as possible(to avoid long walks in and out of the park).
Here's a map of the campground:

They gave me #167. I am going to try and change that now so I can grab one closer to the gate to the concerts. Thanks guys.

I changed mine to #750, looking at the map that is much closer to the venue. Looks like myself and a few other fellow hip fans will be joining the party there Mr. Cardinal. The lady said that there is a bunch of sunny sites still open in the 700 area if anybody is interested. There is a map on the website

Well, you're not really any closer to the stage (except you will hear soundcheck), since you have to walk all the way through the park to get to the concert. The only entrance to the park form the campground is at Darien Square. And you can be guaranteed that there will be a party in that section that you have now found yourself. Get your sleep before you get there.

Here's a bit of a better seating chart that I found.

The camping is pretty good, not much privacy though, there is a country store on the camp grounds that sells beer and it's not marked up too much

I am working the Aerosmith show on Thursday. We get there about 1 hour before the gates open to set up. I'll take a look at the seat numbers and rows and let you know all of the details. How many rows in a section and whether the seats go from left to right or right to left.
I want to say that there are 20 rows in section 100 but the venue has changed a little since all those seating charts were created.
Maybe I can get a picture from each section to give you an idea of the view.
