Ok next Classic Albums Live is 2112 by RUSH next Thursday on Canada Day Eve at the Phoenix
Review by Greg Prato
Whereas Rush's first two releases, their self-titled debut and Fly By Night, helped create a buzz among hard rock fans worldwide, the more progressive third release, Caress of Steel, confused many of their supporters. The band knew it was now or never with their fourth release, and they delivered just in time -- 1976's 2112 proved to be their much sought-after commercial breakthrough and remains one of their most popular albums. Instead of choosing between prog rock or heavy rock, both styles are merged together to create an interesting and original approach. The whole entire first side is comprised of the classic title track, which paints a chilling picture of a future world where technology is in control (Peart's lyrics for the piece being influenced by Ayn Rand). Comprised of seven "sections," the track proved that the trio was fast becoming rock's most accomplished instrumentalists. The second side contains shorter selections, such as the Middle Eastern-flavored "A Passage to Bangkok" and the album-closing rocker "Something for Nothing." 2112 is widely considered by Rush fans as their first true "classic" album, the first in a string of similarly high-quality albums

Message from Classic Albums Live Owner & Producer.....
greetings all
this show is going to be unbelievable
i suggest everyone give 2112 a listen
go out and get on cd
rush really are the greatest canadian band ever
they beaver away
they're smart
they work hard to get things right
they're innovative
and most of all
they rock
that's why they stand tall above all the other prog bands
because they rock
peart put some serious thought into the lyrics
geddy sang the shit out of it
and just when you thought it was all very heady
alex would wail in a wah solo or a killer chord
and godamn if i didn't have my lighter in the air
i wanted to wait to do a rush album
i wanted it to be the right time in the series
so when canada day fell on a friday
i knew the thursday - the night before - i knew it was perfect
everyone wanted us to do 'moving pictures'
and we will
but 2112 is a toronto album
2112 is the album we grew up with
and it's the album we're proud of as a nation
we sent our own out into the world with this album
and the boys made us proud
the band i've put together bring their own personal history with the album
to the rehearsals
the band are more than just performing the record
they're reliving it
again
like so many times before
their dedication to the music is unprecedented
it's a seven piece band
sascha - drums
neil numminen - bass
dave barret - guitar
des leahy - guitar
vassos vassos - guitar
marty morin - percussion FX
and nicky - vocals and keys
hold off on the slow sweaty trip to the cottage on thursday the 30th
go up friday morning instead
come to the phoenix and embrace the greatest canadian album with us
our encore set will blow you away
and we've got a few surprises planned for the night
'come and join the brotherhood of man'
peace and prosperity

Man i wish i lived in Torona(some days), that town sounds like a Music Lovers paradise.....
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

Well, I know Sasch very well...I couldn't really tell you...HOWEVER, he is a Berklee grad, and he killed the "Night At The Opera"...he's a total Bruford head, if you know what I mean. The man has chops to spare.
I think it'll be pretty grand...

Saint John too! It will be hard to top though when the Australian Pink Floyd played DSOTM straight through when they were around last year. And speaking of Aussie Floyd, there rolling into Moncton Dec. 16th. I think they're on their "Animals" tour, aka, they will play Animals straight through, too!

Trust me when I say with confidence, you will see the undisputed version of Dark Side when these guys roll into town. No floating animals or special effects... just some of Canada's Top session musicians recreating music we'll never see again... the lead guy for the Pink Floyd shows looks like Bobby Baker... his voice & guitar playing are pure genious.
Zeppelin I was deadly last night until the girl fell from the balcony during the encore and the show was stopped asap!

Dear god! That reminds me of the time on Monday Night Football, when some random guy leap from his seat into a tunnel to catch a ball that went over the catching net during a Point After attempt!

ATTENTION FLOYD FANS
This month is the complete album being recreated of
ANIMALS by Pink Floyd. Yes the entire album. The Producer is searching for a DOG that can bark on command since they don't believe in overdubs
hock: They just through the session muscians up there and rock out the show note for note as if the album were playing.
It is gonna be crazy : some great encores I am sure Too!

AND.... Beatles fans check this out - they are going for a Guiness Record - in December they are gonna perform every Beatles album made in order over a 12 hour period
hock: ![[Image: beatlesmarathon%20copy.jpg]](http://www.classicalbumslive.com/media/siteimages/beatlesmarathon%20copy.jpg)
This from the Producer of the Series !!
FROM CRAIG MARTIN ....
we're going for it
all of the beatles albums
in order
one after another
note for note
cut for cut
sunday december 17 starting at noon
and ending....who knows
at the phoenix
it's going to be significantly historic
involving all of the alumni
big charities involved
the guiness book of world records
rolling stone magazine
cnn
cbc
all the glittering media will be out
it's a logoistical nightmare
but we're all up for it
we're going to have nurses standing by
and transform the parlour into a mash unit
marty, the doc, jesus and greg wyard007
all think they can go the distance
but there's a ton of singers that are going to be
jumping in when needed
all i can think of
is the resounding roar
when we end the night with
"and in the end
the love you take
is equal to the love
you make"
shivers
anyway
i'm hoping that this will be one of the biggest shows of the series
can't wait
peace and prosperity
craig
