Here is another recent Rob interview I found yesterday. He comes on around 9 minutes in

Some great stuff in that interview, particularly his thoughts on the upcoming documentary. Also interesting to hear the reason why they rarely play songs from UTH and RA (coles notes summary: Downie's voice changed/dropped a bit over the years and he couldn't hit some of the high notes anymore, so he no longer enjoyed singing songs like Cordelia, etc..)
I also enjoyed his story about the girl in Las Vegas who mistook him for Dave Grohl. And I'm not surprised in the least to hear that his favorite current artist is Jason Isbell.
In Gabby's interview he mentions July Talk is also on his radar. Great Canadian band (from Ottawa I believe) that has just managed to headline 3 nights at Massey Hall with only 2 discs under their belt. Can's wait.

Not a chance. GD is no more important to the band than any other member. It's part of what's made them great...an equal partnership. The Hip is those five guys. Since they came together they've never played a gig apart. Without one there is none.
Loved the interview. Such an intimate feel. Wish it was five hours long.
My second thought after hearing the news last year was "if it were any other member of the band, they could have went on". Doubt they would've, but...

Great to hear Rob out there doing these interviews - arewhyehen, yours is a personal favourite. Well done. Seems like Rob (along with Gord D, of course) are the most willing to talk...with Johnny Fay the least. I want to hear perspectives from ALL the boys! Looks like we may in the upcoming doc.
In regards to bands keeping their original line-ups, it's rare for sure...especially for bands with a 20+ year career like The Hip. Not many do. I can think of Rush...Sloan...U2. Are there others?

I think you mean 'most-well-known' lineup.
Neil Peart is Rush's second drummer.
