More live shows, IMO I'd give a 1% chance. The more I think about it, I think Kingston is going to be it.

More tracks and possibly another whole new album, I'd give 80% chance. That I almost feel confident is going to happen.

Previous unreleased tracks and B sides, that's a 100% definite in my books.

I pretty much went broke in order to pay scalper prices and fly from Moncton to Toronto for the 2nd TO Show because i knew this MIGHT be the last chance i get to see them play. Anyone of us who has paid high scalper prices, we all knew the "risks" that we are paying so much to see them and may not be the last shows they play, but we did it anyway for the love of the hip and i would do it again (in fact i hope i get to).

Anyone who then complains later if they play more shows/tour again is just plain being selfish douchebags.

I payed stupid money and drove 12 hrs to be at the Kingston show. None of that matters to me If Gord and the boys can keep going then I say God bless them all and Rock on!

Who gives a shit enjoy every show and don't fixate on the prognosis.

This is basically my thought. I will elaborate though. We can't fret over what we have no control over. If you are in Kingston tonight whether you paid $50 or $250 you are a part of something special. You are seeing the band in their hometown playing to the entire nation. The band never publicly announced this as the final show ever so to assume it is would only well you know. Feel lucky to have experienced this amazing band for over 30 yrs and to get to see them on this tour. Being in the States I envy each and every one of you who got to share a moment with the band this past month. I like to joke around a lot but in all seriousness don't go into tonight thinking it's the end. Go in to the show tonight and have the time of your life. Sing loud, sing proud and stay safe. Always remember "It's a good life if you don't weaken"

thechubb44 makes an interesting point. There is a massive pile of unused Hip material in the can. Will Downie be interested in helping to curate it, or in allowing its release (curated by others) in the immediate future? Or will he press forward with whatever 'solo' work time permits him? The two are not mutually exclusive, and from a strictly 'business' POV, now would be absolutely the prime moment to release a 'Tragically Hip Bootleg Sessions' collection. Or two. But whether Gord is interested in that kind of backward-looking move is another question.

I for one believe that tonight is indeed the final night of the Hip as a working, touring band. Any future show(s) would probably be one-offs. Gord will be a solo artist from now on IMHO.

I have no doubt that we're going to see more releases from the Hip in the future. Maybe not new material, but certainly we'll see some live stuff, b-sides, DVDs, maybe a box set of some kind.

As for Gord, it sounds like he's got another album in the works already, as has been reported from various sources. Also, Bob Mckenzie just posted this on Twitter:

The Hip love playing new stuff live. It's what they live for. If Gord is healthy enough to make that happen, it will happen.

But whether that happens or not, tonight will be a very special night.

I was up 23 hours on Friday the 12th. Flew from Baltimore to Buffalo, drove to Toronto, and back to the Buffalo area to my family's home. I did not go to Kingston.

I would be overjoyed if they said they were up for doing another tour.

I would assume, though Gord is wealthy, that part of his concern is setting his family up financially...releasing material in the next six months would guarantee huge sales

I saw them twice in Toronto and at the Kingston show, and spent over $1,000 for the privilege of doing so - not to mention the cost of food and beer, and travel to and from Kingston. I also bought something like $200 in merch, which is totally not a typical move for me. I did it because I honestly believe this is it for the band as a full-on touring entity. I've heard through multiple band-connected friends that (unsurprisingly) Gord was in a bad place earlier this year and the band wanted to do this to get him focused on something positive, and Gord wanted to do this in large part because he wants to make sure the band are in as strong a financial position as possible. Given all that and the ongoing health issues Gord will deal with no matter how fast his cancer progresses, I think anything beyond a few spot shows here and there is wishful thinking.

That said, whether they play shows here and there, or I'm totally wrong and they're back on the road in a year, I won't regret a thing. I paid what I did because I wanted to support the band and Gord, to enjoy the music, and to be part of something huge that Canadians will remember for decades no matter how the rest of the Hip's story plays out.
