Please humor me here, as I'm not looking to have the "is it or is it not the LAST" show tomorrow...

We've heard the rumors, and my wife feels like fans going to Kingston will be pissed if there are shows beyond tomorrow. My counterpoint has been that the band has never announced this as the end, and people can choose to pay whatever they want, but shouldn't be mad or feel slighted if they play more.

So my question isn't whether or not they will, but IF They do, how would you feel?

Particularly looking for the opinions of those going to Kingston.
I'm going to Kingston.
I want to see more shows after Kingston.
I traveled from Halifax to Ottawa to see them just in case this is it; however, if there are more shows or another album, I am certainly not going to be disappointed.

Shane
That's where I would fall, and feel that if I was going I'd feel the same. Wife says they will want to feel part of something special. In my opinion they are either way.
Going to Kingston, but got a regular priced ticket and am only travelling from Toronto, so really not a big expense. But went to all seven of the Ontario MMP shows and bought a high priced scalper ticket for one of them.

Would love for them to keep going and would in no way be mad. I wll continue to go to every show I can.
I'm going to Kingston, and while I know I would enjoy bragging that I was at the last show, I would far rather not be able to make that particular boast because they're able to keep going. I don't know if I would feel the same if I had shelled out 1500 on the secondary market, but I am just happy to get to see them at what is looking to be close to, if not, the height of their powers, and at a show that will undoubtedly be legendary regardless.

My wife has long dreamed of taking me on a trip to see the Hip, and that it works out the way it does is amazing, and I am grateful to be a small part of such a big event, and even more grateful to be taking my son to his first real concert at such an anticipated event. He loves the Hip nearly as much as I do (which I think is pretty cool for a six year old), and has been looking forward to this since I told him. Nothing can take this away from us - if our favorite band keeps performing after this, I can't see how that is anything but fantastic.

TL/DR: The beauty, passion, and joy that the band brings into the world FAAAAAR outweighs the vanity of bragging rights. I will be in and enjoy the moment lest it is the end, but I hope beyond hope that this is a second beginning, not a swan song.
These replies are making me happy, and not just because it's putting me ahead in a debate, but because of the thought in the responses.
if they continue it means Gord is feeling well.

Who the fuck doesnt want that?

Id love to see a Maritime mini tour to complete the coast to coast trip...neverget up north, but who does?

And Buffalo - damn, they love em as much as we do...would be awesome if they did a few shows there

This! I think it's safe to say that all of us here would like to see them continue if Gord is feeling up to it. I'd like to see a short U.S. tour just to give the American fans a chance to see them again, even if it's just a small handful of dates in Buffalo, New York, Boston, etc... I don't see it actually happening. But never say never.

I know it's been confirmed through a few different sources that there might be new music coming from Gord in the near future, which is incredibly exciting. Whether it's Hip related or not, I'll just be happy to hear whatever he wants to give us. Any more art from this man would be an absolute gift at this point.
Im not going to Kingston, but I'll chime in. I went to Calgary #1, and contemplated going to night #2 for Calgary. Here's why I didn't.
1 song and 1 song only. Yawning and Snarling. I got "that feeling" when they played that song. It made me feel like it was my first time seeing them. I was so intrigued, I paid astute attention to this song, and it was like a whole new discovery for me. I've probably heard that song before in concert, but - I don't remember. It brought me back to my first ever concert, when you get that feeling, like you see and hear whats happening in front of you -but its going 1000 miles an hour, and you want it to last forever, the first time you hear a band, or a song live, and it just sounds 1000 better than the album. It was a moment that made me fall in love with DFN all over again, as if I hadn't heard it before. Blow and Grace are my favourite songs live, and they killed them that night. The minute the concert was over, I made up my mind that if that's the last concert I see. That's the one I want it to be. ............... If they keep going after this. Im all in. This feeling cant be taken away, even if there's another concert. It's here to stay, a few weeks after that show, I still have it.

As long as the Twin Cities is on that list, bring it on! Especially since it seems they're getting as much steam down here as I've seen. The local indie station has A World Possessed in heavy rotation, Slate & Rolling Stone are talking about them, and people I never would have suspected to be Hip aware know who they are these days. It would be great to see MY countrymen give them the reception they deserve.

I recognize that I'm just an outsider looking in, but I have to say that Gord and co have for a long time made me feel like I almost could be Canadian if I were to try hard enough, if that makes any sense at all. It's like being invited to a wedding where you don't know anyone, but the couple is happy to have you be there. Or something ... I don't know. I just know that I love the Hip and am eternally grateful that you guys let me peek in the window.
I'm going to Kingston. If it's not the last show I'll cry...cry tears of unrestrained ecstasy.
I think it's great if there's more - means Gord is healthy, good to keep going. I also think there would be some confusion from the masses over what they saw on CBC and media leading up to this show.
Who gives a shit enjoy every show and don't fixate on the prognosis.
There are 2 schools of thought here. Ignore it and be positive and the camp I'm in that says fuck what is he really able and willing to do? That said I expect no talk from the band or Gord about the illness. Until it needs to be discussed. I seriously doubt you'll see another live show. But I'd bet they drop a record shortly after this tour. New stuff that didn't make mmp. In my mind it was meant to be a concept album and I'm willing to bet there's a part 2 waiting. Beyond that it wouldn't surprise me to see another release or several short ep's. He's going to keep writing and recording . The question is when or if we will hear them . Warren zevon was sick as hell and put out one of his best records. Same with Bowie. Music and family. That's all that matters to him. He's not gonna sit around and wallow.
