Hoping your right....this band isn't mailing it in...yeah the setlists are all very vanilla right now, but they've never done that on tour...I think they'd definitely alienat their hardcore fans that way and I refuse to believe that they'll go that route. I'm hoping that the new album motivates them to bust out some gems to keep us hitting multiple dates.

I dont get what the problem is other than we are spoiled little babies.Ive been thinking about this alot in the last few days,and tonight have been watching alot of footage from 06-09 when we were treated to so many gifts from this band.Lets face it,the boys are probably not as popular as they once were.In order to continue to do special things for their fans they need to play hits when they tour to raise the dough to record,support 2 of everything when they tour,growing families,etc.We still get treated better than most fans.The guys are way more accesible than most,and are still cutting edge,with a great webmaster that keeps us in the know.We are allowed to tape shows,and prices for Hip concerts are usually less than most big bands.If your getting bored with the setlists get grateful by going on Youtube and having a look at everything thats available.Im sure there is still lots for us in the future,just look at the track record and have faith,and enjoy all the new awesomeness we have.

Yes, I have seen a bunch of these songs many,many times live. But, I still love them and any day I can see/hear any songs from the Hip Catalogue is a good day...I guess "Its a good life if you don't weaken" Anyway, I think maybe we can all just sit back and relax and enjoy...I personally would love to see them again in November in Buffalo.

I hope there is a nice mix of new, hits, and 2-3 less common songs in the setlist. I think that would make most happy.

I'm going to Rochester and Syracuse and I'm curious to see what the boys bring out. It's an evening with tour, but the tickets state 9:00 start times, so I'm not expecting shows like the last tour.

I honestly don't see the big deal about discussing setlists. This is what passionate fans of the music do. It's not disrespectful or whining. I'm approaching 20 shows (I know that doesn't compare to some of you) and when my wife asks "why do you need to see them again?" I reply that every show is unique. Every show has different songs, each show has a slightly different feel to it. Always good but always spontainious and never chliche'. That's to me, is at the heart of what the Hip live experience is all about.

I have seen the Hip somewhere around 25 times with only 2 "greatest hits" set lists. The greatest hits were at Pemberton in 2009 and Buffalo 2011. It's all about audience expectations. The Hip need to give the people what they want and the fact is the thousands of casual ticket buyers outweigh the hundreds of us diehards. Big shows equal greatest hits. It's simple math.

I am 30 + shows maybe 40.
I agree with the exact feeling of most wanting to hear the last of the unplucked gems. But I realize the Hip are on the verge of their US tour and will most likely play hits with new tunes from NFPA mixed in. Let's stay engaged and see what happens with the setlists. I'll bet they have a mean streak and bring out some killer tunes!

Do we know when Gord Sinclair stopped writing the setlists and Baker took over? I posted this before the Victoria show, but I'm not sure how many people saw it:

It would seems like there's no one writing the setlist right now.
Also, I wonder if it's Baker's vocal dislike of IVL that has prevented many of those songs showing up in recent years
