I worked as a Roadie on the MArkham Fairgrounds show and Cayuga Speedway. I sat on the water truck and took a photo while Midnight Oil was on from behind, while the Hip respectfully watched the Lanois set. I have the Photo Album beside me. For you kids, that a book that holds printed pictures. I was no where near the concert photo master I am now but its been almost 20 years, I am ready to break out the story and the photos, passes and the one signature I got. Coming soon.

I'm not much of a Sheryl Crow fan, but her live show is solid. I thought she was really good at ARA '97. She had the unfortunate position of playing 2nd last right before the Hip. I felt kinda bad for her when she tried to come out for an encore after her set, and she was forced to endure a VERY loud "Hip Hip Hip" chant through the entire song. Needless to say she got the hint and left the stage after only 1 encore tune.

i remember being pretty impressed with how sheryl played almost every instrument on stage
i'm also not much of a fan of hers but she's got talent. imo
also LOVED that the hip added los lobos to that year's fest

Van Allen Belt stand out as the band I'd most like to see on that bill after The Hip. They were awesome...

I hit Markham 95 (my first real TTH show) and they were great! Mathew Sweet and Blues Traveler were good too...97 in Barrie was a good time too, though I didn't really care for any of the other acts on the bill, though Wheat Kings w/ Ashley MacIsaac was pretty amazing! Though I enjoyed those shows, I much prefer the smaller venues nowadays...while the shows may not hold quite the same electricity now as they did back then, the band rarely disappoints live (I've seen 1 bad show outta 30+) and I still get pumped for every chance I get to see them.

Andrew Cash was pretty good too.
There were a few more but the above 4 we were so impressed with we followed their entire career and have purchased all those bands entire catalogues of music. We even managed to go to a few club shows of Crash Vegas and met the band a few times at different shows. Daniel Lanois was such an influence to us with his music that we named our first son Daniel. The Odds still get heavy rotation on my ipod and in the car on the CD player. 13 Engines gets listened to a few times a year.
Yea there was a lot of opening bands that were exceptional such as Blues Travellers, Midnight Oil and others but it was the "newer" homegrown acts that we were drawn to more so.
