Oh, wow! It turns out I might be in Ottawa for the entire month of Feb., which makes me think I should pick up a ticket. I have never been to the area, how difficult is it to get to Kingston from Ottawa?

Very easy, it is about 1 1/2 hour trip, South for about 40 minutes on hwy 416 to hwy 401. Then 401 West to Kingston.

My heart says this show would be all we dream about...double set, lots of rare tunes because they aren't on tour and it is their hometown.

But my head tells me it might just be a slightly longer than normal set with standard tunes and maybe one or two nice gems tossed in.

Not to mention the way the band has used the "Evening With" moniker over the past year...since that outsanding MAW tour in 2000, those words have never meant the same thing when I see them.

These are the things that are weighing heavily in my mind when it comes down to whether or not to make the 5 hour trip from Buffalo. Advice?

das_hips Wrote:I can't see any reason why this wouldn't be a two and a half to three hour show, much like the shows we were privy to witness in 2000. They take the stage at 8:00, it's their hometown (Across the Causeway was a remarkable performance), they will be sufficiently rested (this isn't the middle of a tour), and tickets are going to be $80 (I don't think they'd short-change the Kingston faithful, especially given Rob's vocal involvement in getting the arena built); also, I suspect we might hear a new tune or two.

In keeping with the bi-annual release of a new album, this will be 2008 after-all, and certainly much closer to an unannounced album release date then the 'last bash in Barrie' at Edgefest in 2003 when they played 'You're Everywhere', and 'Goodnight, Josephine' about 10 months before In Between Evolution was released.

Now, to get tickets.

The band were planning on heading into the Bath studio with Bob Rock early in the new year, to work on the first few tracks for the new album, so hopefully we will hear a new tune.

I wonder what feel the new album will have? Pop-rock like WC , Garage Rock a la IBTL or (I hope) Mellow rock like a good version of IVL. By IVL I mean more Darkest One, Dire Wolf, IAGLIYDW and Ultra Mundane and less Throwing Off Glass and Are You Ready.

I noticed the tickets are through livenation.......

I have never purchased tickets they day they go on sale through livenation. Are there any idiosyncrasies with the website when purchasing?? I know ticketmaster can throw you a curveball once in a while when trying to purchase tickets quickly. For a few months I found ticketmasters "verification codes" completely illegible. Usually had to try two or three times before I would get one I could actually decipher........

According to the website link from thehip.com, the Kingston arena official page says show time is 7:30.

Also, are there going to be any special pick up/mail out rules with these tickets? The ducats are going to be a Christmas gift for me (provide I can score some tommorrow) and therefore, won't be my credit card. I'm assuming that seeing how this isn't a fan club gig that there shouldn't be a problem, but any clarification from higher ups? Should just be like regular ticket bastard/live nation stuff where it can be sent through the mail?

Excited for 10 am!

Cheers,

Pat
