[Hip 64] - Rules & Match-up #1
#16

sean.bonner Wrote:I was about to put in my vote, but decided to wait until tomorrow when I can play the songs loud, and perhaps then play a few live versions of each. I allready think I know what I want to vote for, but maybe after some sleep I can make a more informed decision.
If you wait until tomorrow, you will have missed the vote. Remember, each poll only runs one day long, so vote today and vote with your heart!

I ask you to listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.

Do you have a bracket style chart you could post...I think it would be cool to see which song has won (or been beaten), and to see upcoming match-ups in a March Madness style chart.
Just a thought.

thats another good idea. i have a question as well. whats happens in the event of a tie?

I have a bracket-style chart (hand-drawn), but I was kind of hoping some of the graphically advanced individuals on the Base could help out in this department (i.e. Zenith or Corby). If anyone would like to contribute in this way, send me a PM for more details.

In the event of a tie: Due to time constraints, it would not be feasible to completely re-do the match-up, as there could potentially be several ties. If there is a tie, both songs will advance to the next round, and a three-way poll will take place in that next round.

The first time I heard ABAC was on the radio while driving down a two-lane highway toward my favorite camping spot on a killer sunny summer day in southwest Montana back in 1996. To this day, I can't think of any other time I've heard the Hip on the radio. I like Lake Fever, but for sentimental reasons I had to vote for ABAC.

Great idea on this tournament -- thanks for setting it up.

I printed off the 64 bracket sheets for this uh... Dart Tournament.... Confusedcratch: (?)
Anyways, I'm going to keep track. Maybe somebody could post a digital version of this.

Oh wait! I just realized something: These sheets will only work if tomorrow's winner takes on today's winner...
Hmmm. Maybe I'll fill them out, and then print off new sheets once the 2nd round matchups are known.

In all honesty, maybe. Frig, I hate that course. Oh well, another midterm tomorrow:Math for Commerce. That should go well, that's an awesome course. So to summarize my point: This March Madness thing kicks ass.

Hmmm, at the risk of being horsewhipped for this - I've never heard Emperor Penguin! (Well, actually, that's not true - I have got a live version of it, but it's the version from the show at the ACC in 2000, and there's a load interferance over it!). I did recently buy Phantom Power, but it's not arrived yet.

Yes, please wait until the poll is opened. For now, listen to both songs to decide which one you will choose. Hopefully the poll will be up in the late-afternoon.
