[Hip 64] - Rules & Match-up #1
#8

An honour and a privilege to be the first person to vote in March Madness...

I like this match-up; it makes sense. Released four years after ABAC, lyrically, Lake Fever seems to be a bit of a progression. The young couple Gord seemed to be romanticizing in ABAC has moved on from that first kiss in a tree onto some heavy petting beside the lake. They also appear to be confronting the type of serious issues that come with age. Wait, that can't be right. Serious issues are things like mortgages, not cholera epidemics. Anyway.

I hope this doesn't count as cheerleading; I heard Lake Fever for the first time, as I'm sure nearly everyone did, at my first show on New Years Day, 2000. I kinda thought it paled in comparison to the Bastard, but I did like the acoustic feel of the tune. I always thought the song could've benefitted if they'd kept it strictly acoustic. Maybe could've become the new ABAC, or whatever.

Again, cool idea man.
