I don't really get you guys' objections to the rhymes in 38...is it just because they're one syllable or is it because the words are simple? Is there really a style guide for rhyming? And what is the justification for it?

That line is just too on-the-nose for me, made even worse by the fact that Night and Mike don't even rhyme, really. It also overly personalizes the song, which is at odds with Gord later repudiating it as "autobiography" (because it wasn't). It is also a really lazy rhyme and used so unabashedly and without irony that it makes it crystal clear to me that this is a young band, a young lyricist who are destined to get so much better, and it hurst my ears when I hear it (like all of the EP).

I love the song, I love the music, but that line goes off like a gong every time.
