Interesting thought that "the scene" has faded away. Places likes Athens and Seattle, and then from a Canadian perspective the east coast, seemed to generate a number of high-profile bands all within a short time period. I wonder if part of the demise of the scene has been the closing of live music venues -- less bands opening for each other, trading members, etc.

Yeah, I don't know what it was that has sort of killed the "local scene" but I am sure it is due to the digital world. You used to be influenced by the things around you and the other musicians around you. You couldn't share things as easily as you could like you can now with the internet. Hell, like when Pearl Jam started they were sending out demo cassettes in order to find a singer. Now days you can post an MP3 on your website or facebook. They are still around..just not like they used to be. Except Nashville....that just seems to be some sort of garbage Modern Country assembly line..haha
