Up to Here got my attention. But it was Road Apples that solidified my early obsession. It's just a perfect rock n' roll album from start to finish, dripping with bluesy swagger and raucous energy. You can tell that recording in New Orleans totally rubbed off on them. I remember interviews at that time where they said songs like The Luxury and Last of the Unplucked Gems were directly inspired by their visit to that city. The Hip have such a rich and brilliant back catalogue. Such a shame that they always choose to ignore it when they play live.
