Hip Tour in Jan/Feb 2015

Escape@Hand Wrote:Anyone else notice they have gone to setlist groups, to open and close the shows, that are predetermined sets, ala 2009? I've been going through the setlits for the tour and it seems like they are rotating through predetermined sets for before and after FC. For example, the opening set consists of Grace, M@W, NOIS, ABAC, and maybe a rare track, and the closing set is along the same lines with View, Bobc, Bones, etc. The rare tracks that they've pulled out seem to be Vapour, Something, Twist, Boots, Kids, with Escape, Scared and Good Life being sort of in between greatest hits and rare tracks.

It's as though they pre-selected a handful of songs that they haven't played in a long time and rotate through them over a few shows, to go along with the greatest hits, as opposed to the "anything and everything is possible" shows like the Fort York ones. This isn't a complaint, just something I've noticed and wonder if it means anything for their next "regular" tour. Will they do the same, totally open the vault, or go back to greatest hits shows?

Springsteen did setlist "slots" on the first leg of the Rising tour: standard opener ("The Rising"), standard second song ("Lonesome Day"), and then the Empty Sky/You're Missing/Waitin' on a Sunny Day/.../Worlds Apart/Badlands run. Of course, on his most recent tours, he's gone nuts. Maybe the Hip will follow his example? Come together on more than Springsteen? Eh??
