What I believe should be the criteria for a song to win an Oscar, an Oscar being awarded for acheivement in film, is that the song should help to advance the story being told and illustrate the tone of the film. For Hustle and Flow to have a song that was eloquently written would not have suited the film. I loved Crash, I thought it deserved to win almost everything that it was nominated for, but the song didn't stick out for me. The only reason why I watched Hustle and Flow was because I had heard how brilliant the performances were, and I discovered that it was a well made film, and I recommend it to anyone.
As for the acceptance speech, I didn't watch it so I cannot give an opinion on that.
