I like some of U2's music but the band disgusts me. Bono thinks he's a saint, thinks he's Nelson Mandela or something.

Say what you want about him, but the guy knows his shit and he puts his money where his mouth is. At least he's using his fame to try and make some kind of difference, which is more than you can say for a lot of other celebrities of his ilk.

How much of HIS money is going to the cause? How many more records is he selling by being on CNN and CNBC every night?

It's just my own personal preference that I don't like getting told what to do by a MUSICIAN!!!!! I listen to music. The musicians provide music. I don't want to be hit over the head with their political views. Who the hell cares what musicians have to say about politics and the world? I certainly don't want to hear about it. Bono has a way of speaking that comes across to me as if he's saying "look people, you have to give money if you care at all about Africa". I don't appreciate being told what to do. I think a country should look after itself first, and then try to help other countries. Bono's attitude that we in North America are selfish people who don't care about the rest of the world is tiresome. I don't want to be told how I feel or how I should act, especially not from some egotistical maniac who can't go two days without sticking his face in a newspapr or on television.
