does anyone know how people were allowed to signup in the first place? I've always wondered, everyone I talk to says, oh, a friend of mine gave me an invite, but what about the first people that got it?

They started it internally and then eventually let people who use their blog service start using it. Then they started giving those people invites to send out. The more they wanted to test how robust the platform was, the more they gave out. :thumb:
