Doh! I didn't even read the rules/regs.

Yeah I just read them and it says..

1. The sole contest points of entry are on-line via The Tragically Hip web site “thehip.com” and the Universal Music Canada site "umusic.ca", commencing on November 15, 2004 and ending on January 6, 2005 at 11:59 p.m. (EST). Log on and follow the entry instructions. Only 1 entry per person. No purchase necessary

So maybe that October 1 2004 thing was left over from an old contest, like maybe the baseball thing?
