You guys just can't imagine the non-stop coverage of "The Malice at the Palace" (as the local Detroit-Metro media is calling it) that's going on here in SE Michigan. The 6:00 news has devoted the first 15 minutes of their broadcast to it for four days, and every radio station, regardless of format, can't stop talking about it.

On one hand, it's kinda cool. You get to hear first-hand from Chris Chelios and Kid Rock who, at the game together, jokingly considered crossing the court and givin' Artest a real taste of Detroit hospitality!

Cheli ultimately and eloquently stated that what's not shown on the endless loops is the effective security that kept the rest of the fans in calm, quiet control, ensuring that only those in the immediate vicinity of the fray were involved or in danger.

Another humorous angle is that Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca thought the cup-tosser (identified as John Green, an ex-con and now ex-season ticket-holder ) looked familiar from the moment he first reviewed the video. After about ten or twelve viewings, he realized the perpetrator used to be his neighbor! How's that for bad luck: incite a riot and get fingered by the Prosecutor himself.

On the other hand, there's other stuff happening in the world that's far more newsworthy and relevant to our daily lives than minute by minute play by play coverage of an unfortunate altercation between millionaires and working class stiffs.
