After each tour they add one, two, or even three staples to their live show. I've seen the Hip 7 times (baby numbers compared to most of you), each time I've heard NOIS, ABAC, and Grace, Too... each time I've been impressed. I often go to these shows with a few relatively un-knowledgeable fans, at Bluesfest I mustered up 9 people to go with me, most of which couldn't differentiate Three Pistols from Something On. As the catalogue increases so will the number one hits... this opinion has been posted before, probably a dozen times in this thread, but its nieve to think they'll pull out their 'best of the unplayed' setlist when:
A) Half the stadium is there to hear their hits
B) They're almost obligated to play 80% of their new album
C) Radio hits bring the cash
D) ... and this is theoretical, but I'm sure Universal Canada has something to say about what they play...
E) How can the band members possibly be expected to remember 119. or say even half, 60 songs in their entirity? Jonny could do it, Gord Downie could do it, but Bobby and Paul? It's tough...
If after each album their live show would increase in duration we would see these elusive tracks, but they don't... I think they're far from that bluesy-rock band from the mid '90s, with the extended jams and the open setlist... they really have become a show tour.... I'm not going to complain, but of course everyone else is welcome...
