In my opinion CMG was an interesting turn for Downie whose poetic verse is easily the most luring since Frost, but I do believe it was not comparable to The Band as a whole. Never would have even made w/ out the tracks most memorable such as "Canada Geese", "Chancellor" and the unforgetable "Vancouver Divorse". The track "Starpainters" is exceptionally tranquillizing as it is most comparalbe to a soliliquy by Joan Baez. The "SF Song" is absolutely enough to send chills down my back as i believe it is the clearest and most crisp Downies voice has ever been. Just wanted to know some other feeling dealing w/ this swtich for the group. Of course I will give Gordie 4 stars because he is the single most amazing man to ever create music of all time
