You're right. I should have known better. Shows how many Petty cd's I own. Smile Don't take away my right to listen to music. Big Grin Seriously, yeah, I'm pretty ashamed of myself but it's all good. I'd say "You Wreck Me", "It's Good to Be King", and "You Don't Know how It Feels" are the three songs that come to mind when I talk about Petty. I need to pick up a Traveling Wilbury's cd don't I? Finally picked up the album today and I'm really enjoying it. There isn't a single dud on the entire thing, and I think it easily ranks up there with his best work.

Looks like he's playing Toronto in Sept....despite my Rob Zombie sighting last night, Calgary doesn't get nearly enough concerts

Wow, did that ever get sprung. I heard about it yesterday, got the dates/info this morning and tried for presale tickets at 10am...AND PULLED 8TH ROW FLOORS. I couldn't afford them, but I couldn't afford to let them go either--so I bought them. Tom Petty is #2 on my "bands I need to see live before I die list", and if this is in fact his last major tour, well, I won't complain about the cost. Can't wait!!

If you're a Petty fan, you're gonna LOVE seeing him live. The man and his crew simply do not disappoint. I won't say that it's 'great stage presence' as much as it is just the ability to give a solid, skilled professional performance. One thing I always found impressive during Petty shows is overall sound quality, especially that of the guitars -- solid, clean, and pure -- it's a 'big' sound that really drives the songs up a notch or two, which to me is what a concert is all about.

Be ready for a good experience.... :thumb:

Awesome. Honestly, all I want from Tom Petty is a straightforward rock n' roll concert--that is to say, absolutely no b.s., just rock n' roll music (if that makes sense...I know I couldn't possibly make it less eloquent!). I'm imagining a Petty show is roughly similar to a Hip concert, in that regard...and if that's the case, hey, bring it on.

Just picked this up yesterday and it's already eased in place, I think all the songs are great from start to finish :thumb:

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

Killer show at the Amphitheatre, btw. I was 2nd row (or thereabouts...the configuration is weird down front), and could see the whites of the band members' eyes. Solid setlist, great performances all 'round, a GREAT opener (Blind Boys of Alabama)...just one of the most solid shows I've seen in a long while. Gonna pick up the new album ASAP.

That opener is a stroke of genius from Tom and his management. If I didnt live where I live, i'd have been there in a heartbeat!
